As much as I dislike Derek, I really like Kelly and enjoyed that dance

I like Derek just fine, and that was a really tight dance for week 1.

7-7-7 is a good starting point, not overscoring but acknowledging that the curve is starting off a little higher than usual.

I'm excited that I'm going to be able to watch with y'all this year. I though Kellie did great for a first dance but she is lacking in one area that could hinder her winning it all. She just doesn't come across as all that likable. Maybe, she'll get better once the nerves settle down because I loved her line about bringing it back to Nashville!

Kellie looks fantastic! Their dance was great for Week 1. That 7-7-7 is the curse of the beginning dance! They do this a lot so that they have a place to move up or down from.

    Victor and Lindsay.

He seems like a sweet guy.

And he's man enough to admit that he is out of his world when he dances.

    ETA . . .

    Awwwwww . . .

I just HAD to smile, watching him!

His smile is like a lighthouse beacon!

He's so tentative, but you can see he's really trying, and that is endearing.

Nah, he ain't gonna win, but I DO like this guy!!

Victor was OK...there seemed a bit of a flub in there.

He looks good in a suit. I would have preferred the sob story after we got to know him better. At least I think there was a sob story because I didn't listen to it all.

I forgot to look for Catherine.

Mmmmmmm, Jax looks niiice as evah!

Okay, Victor Ortiz may not be the best dancer ever, but I always appreciate it when a contestant appears to enjoy himself/herself and seems excited with what he/she was able to accomplish compared to where he/she started. It makes it more enjoyable to watch that person, even if I don't expect him/her to make the finals or win (though, of course, it's far too early to make predictions about anything at this point as far as I'm concerned, since sometimes a contestant turns out to be quite different than you might have thought initially).
