I think Maks wants a fair competition. I read an article from him today (and it might have been taken from the GMA) that Maks said he's been told since he started he has to get it in his head it's not a real dance competition, but a TV show. I think a lot of the pros have had to seperate the actual dance aspect they spent decades doing over the entertainment aspect of the TV show. But Maks's blow up has certainly provided a lot of interesting arguments over whether the judges need to be reeled in or not. I kind of like all the commentary coming out that the judges are pointless. I do wonder if it'll bring about any changes, explanations, or revamps of the panel. After Bristol, despite the producers saying there was no way her supporters could override the e-mail voting system, the following season, they started requiring verification to prevent the same person from signing up for a thousand e-mail addresses.
Brooke vs Warren...a season where Kym should have had her first win, and the season where any love I had for Derek started going way downhill.
I just read an interesting suggestion elsewhere. Perhaps CA, Len, and Bruno need to take a turn for a week as the pro partners and let some of the pros judge them. You know, kind of like a Boxing Day switch. It might make it clearer to them just how hard it is to do what the pros do and give the pros a chance to show how they would be at judging.
I know they'd never do it, but I'd love to see, say, CA with Chaz, Bruno with Nancy, and Len with Hope (since he seems to think she has potential Maks isn't properly bringing out). I'd be okay with Lacey, Tristan, and Maks doing the judging too, but I'd really prefer it be long-time pros that have never won, like Maks, Tony, Louis, Anna etc.
I didn't see that particular interview, but I did see one where JR said he would expect Karina to stick up for him.
On GMA this morning, they had Maks father on. He said that Maks should apologize to Len, not for what he said, but because Len was older. I guess in essence that you should show respect to your elders.
Karina didn't go off on the judges during the show last season, but in her and Ralph's final week, she did tell them off in interviews, calling them 'the 3 stooges'. I mean, the thought of the pros running up to them after the show and making sure their poor wittle feelings are intact is laughable. It's a cheesy dance show on TV for crying out loud. CA, Len, and Bruno are just 3 people that are just as replacable as any pro. They don't hold any power. Once everyone leaves the studio, are they kissing their feet and carrying them to their car? I know we've gotten into the debate pretty heavy here, but at the end of the day, eh. Maks had done it before, and others pros have broken down or called the judges out. It seems like this season Maks hit the nerve when everyone else was feeling it.

Without him last season, the only dance that got any attention was Mark's ridiculously lame Harry Potter routine. Except for cheering on Kirstie Alley, the fall season couldn't come fast enough for me.

Unfortuantely for me, you're probably right. Contender aside, he's got the fanbase to vote him through. I think the worst Derek has ever finished was 6th. But I can dream, and wonder. It's why I think partner swapping every week might be a way to deter pros voting blocs, and see what they're really made of, working with celebs of differing abilities each week.I think it's a pretty safe bet to say that we will never find out how he would fare with a bad dancer. He will always be partnered with contenders.
jucamer, I love your avvie I miss season 10.
