    Stars Finale Really Swings

July 8, 2005 -- WEDNESDAY's finale of "Dancing with the Stars" waltzed off with over 22 million viewers big numbers for a summer series.

"Dancing" led ABC to an easy prime-time victory and averaged almost 3 million more viewers than CBS, NBC, Fox, UPN and The WB combined.

The reality show, won by "General Hospital" star Kelly Monaco and dance partner Alec Mazo, was the summer season's most-watched show thus far.

It also garnered ABC its best Wednesday-night timeslot numbers since 1994.

Monaco and Mazo pulled off an upset victory over former "Seinfeld" co-star John O'Hurley and his dance partner, Charlotte Jorgensen.

Monaco and Mazo scored perfect 10s in their final dance round from the show's three judges.

Those were the first 10s awarded to any dance team throughout the six-week series, which also featured Joey McIntyre, Evander Holyfield, Rachel Hunter and Trista Sutter. For Monaco's efforts, she was awarded a trophy.

In "Dancing," based on the hit British series "Strictly Come Dancing," celebrities were paired with professional dancers, who taught them ballroom dancing moves.

Each week, the couples learned two new dances with one couple eliminated each week based.

Still can't get over the fact that Johns and Charlotte didn't win. They are the true dancers. I think that this show needs to have separate contests:
I feel it's easier to be the male teacher with a woman 'celebrity' than for the woman to be the teacher with the male 'celebrity.'

Charlotte was the better dance teacher and John was an excellent student.

In Ballroom dancing, the man leads and the woman follows - it's easier to judge. Maybe there should be contests with just male teachers with female
'celebs' or have a group of women teachers with male 'celebs.'

    That would be fair contests.

The little girl who won, with her partner did well, but she wore skimpy costumes and she was like a robot, just going through the moves.

John and Charlotte had classy costumes and they really could dance.

[another rigged reality TV Finale ] shades of some ANTM 1-4 Finales -that's my other favorite reality show that I'm getting sad about
