“I don’t know. As of now, I’m not sure I’m returning this season, in particular,” Derek told Access Hollywood on the red carpet at the premiere of his sister’s film, “Safe Haven,” in Los Angeles on Tuesday evening.

But good news for fans of the three-time mirrorball winner.

“I’ll be back for the Fall season,” Derek added.

That doesn't make sense -- I thought they were cutting DWTS back to once a year. Maybe they didn't tell Derek...

As for DWTS- I do wonder if they will have enough victims to dance with. I see them running out. Oh well, I am glad about Derek.

Originally it was reported that it was once a year due to declining ratings, but TPTB are the ones who are saying it's still twice a year as far as they know. If ratings continue to go downhill, who knows. Eventually, I bet it will be demoted to once a year, then to the summer, before finally being axed completely. Despite it's declining ratings, it still does a heck of a lot better than the majority of TV shows.

I enjoy Derek's dancing & his choreography, but my first thought when reading that was: "Oh no. Here we go again. He gets the ringer & the judges' partiality won't give anyone else a chance."
I've come to dislike him being on the show because of this.

The cast and their partners are being announced liiiive on GMA Feb. 26th. Despite debating whether or not to take a break, DWTSGossip on twitter has an article from Cheryl saying she's looking forward to this upcoming season; still not any real (or good) news about the cast. Nothing about any pros confirmed, though I feel it'll be the same group, minus Derek. 12 couples this time. Rehearsals are starting a few days before the announcement.

Derek isn't going to be on this one coming up, he will be back in the fall though :yay.I cannot wait until the fall , he's great! the others are pretty blah in comparison( for me)

Louis van Amstel said that rehearsals starts on February 25. I wonder if that means he's the one who's taking Derek's place in the lineup (assuming the others from last season remain the same)?
