Listening to the music this week is making me long for another classical music night, just so I wouldn't have to listen to the house band/singers.

I still think they should have a Big Band night with a genuinely fine big band. Get someone like Harry Connick Jr. to "host" it, so to speak (don't get rid of Tom by any means...but if Brooke took a week off, I'd be fine with that).

Great job on the quickstep. I'd say as good as Apolo's, who so far has done the best job tonight, imo.

Well, maybe those guys should make jokes like that, there certainly isn't anything precluding them from doing it and I am pretty sure Emmitt would take it totally in stride and find it equally hilarious because he truly is that kind of guy.

And Emmitt is a great athlete based largely upon sheer will who was told over and over that he would never make it the NFL and then, not only made it, he became it's leading rusher of all time -- so I would not definitively say that Emmitt Smith would suck at anything he would try to take on.

I have nothing against Emmitt personally, but I think he truly would suck at short track, simply because he's not built for it any more than I think Apollo is built for football. And you can't help what your overall build is.

And I really don't think the answer to one group slighting someone else's sport is for the slighted group to make similar remarks back, particularly since it would be almost impossible in this culture for them to be taken seriously if they did. That's why I find it so aggravating when people who play the "popular" or "macho" sports slight other sports even in fun, since they know the likelihood that any retort made back to them would be generally laughed off, since most people haven't the vaguest notion of how dangerous or difficult some of the sports that people in this country typically only see during Olympic years actually are.

Big Band would be fun! As long as they don't let their singers anywhere near the mic. And classical night needs to be like season 12 classical night.

That's why I suggested getting someone like Harry Connick Jr.--it would keep the regular singers away from the microphone.
