I saw Tony on a dance competition show on PBS. He was fantastic, just as good as Derek but the difference he had an excellent partner. Without good celebrity dancers Derek and Mark wouldn't be all that hot, nor would they win all the time.

Maks is a workhorse he gives it his all to enhance his partners performance. Kirstie deserves to be in the finals just as much as anyone else. In my opinion Maks is a better teacher than either Derek or Mark, because it's not all about him but his partner.

I hated to see Romeo go I'd much rather it was Chelsea, but looks like Chelsea & Mark are this year's ringer. Yawn yawn, same old same old!!
I so agree, especially with the bolded! Maks' partners actually improve, Mark and Derek just have to choreograph a routine with an already good dancer... big deal
I hate to brag but I tried on some earrings that I wore in highschool... and they still fit

While I think the demographic is "officially" 18-45, I know I have read in multiple places that it is really 18-29 they are targeting - those are the people that are swayed by the advertisements (which is really where all the money is).

i brought this up in another thread and bears repeating here as well - I think it's a myth that it's the teens/tweens who are doing the majority of the voting - I think they watch and they vote, but it's probably the older folks that care enough to do the majority of the voting - as the winners of many season can attest to, Donnie Osmond and Jennifer gray to name a couple, and I daresay the trophy will prolly go to Kirstie or Ralph and not the Disney star.

From your mouth to the producer's ears! At this point, I will be content if any of the final 4 win, except Chelsea. Which, given my track record, means she will win.

I am still cheering for Hines, very very loudly. I love Kym as well.

Upthread someone mentioned Chelsea being a Disney kid. NOW it makes sense. Disney owns ABC, so of course, they have to keep it in the family. Now I get it. How shameful can you be?

I really wonder about those people. (ABC) They moved JuJu Chang off of Good Morning America and stuck her as a Night Line substitute and some special feature stories. SHe's only devoted 23 years of her life to those people. She was only the best thing they ever had on GMA. Very odd indeed.

The rankings that the judges give for the final 3 gives them the ultimate power and that's what bugs me the most about how the show is set up.
It sounds like next week, they will be giving the judges even more power in the overall decision based on this "winner take all" 15 point cha cha. Is that really what it is? Fifteen extra points awarded to the couple of their choice is basically a free pass to the finals for them (it will equate to about a 5-6% voting advantage, won't it?) Whoever gets it won't be in danger of elimination, that's for sure. I have a sinking suspicion that the producers came up with this bizarre (and unfair) new twist to assure Chelsea and Mark make the finals, because I bet their viewer votes are behind the other three by a couple of points (and maybe getting lower each week as Mark's douchebaggery increases and more fans get turned off).

Wasn't it last season that they had a group dance and the way People worded it, it made it sound like whatever group won, they were all safe from elimination? IIRC, the couple that was eliminated was from the 'losing' group, but each couple still had to stand and await their fate based on their scores/votes.

Ug - if that's what happens this season and they're doing it to assure Mark makes the finals (again) then I really have no interest in ever watching this show agan. Of course it's rigged to a degree, but blatant rigging = that's a whole 'nother story.

Exactly. And when Mark hasn't had a partner with much natural talent, they have not lasted very long, except for Bristol, who got carried through by her mother's fanbase. Out of the 8 seasons he has been on, he has gotten 4 partners who pretty much excelled from the start. Two had huge fanbases as well, and they won. One did not and got eliminated too soon. And then there's Chelsea. I think any of the male pros could have gotten similar results.

love that word and describes Mark's actions on the show perfectly!

When he and Shannon were eliminated he was injured as well and was going to have to withdraw - I always wondered if they just decided to eliminate them rather than replace him with Corky.
