Yes, I agree that technically, Chelsea is pretty clearly above the rest of the pack (and as a result, she has often, although not always, been the high scorer), but he should know by now that the judges don't always score just on technical proficiency and difficulty of routine, and aren't going to create an insurmountable difference between highest and lowest (ie, 20 points or so) or put one contestant out of the reach of the others under any circumstances. (Best example of this is "professional dancer" Nicole's season, until the finale when they needed to guarantee she won.) If they did, he and his partner wouldn't have made the finals last year.
Exactly. I'd like to ask Mark, in his 8 seasons doing the show, when have the judges ever been consistant? I think we can all count many more times they were inconsistant. Bristol is an excellent point, but even Mark decided she was getting screwed by the judges and scoring and deserved better :ohno He's been like that since season 8. I remember a dance he and Shawn did that the judges didn't really care for, and he shook his head during the scoring. Same went for Melissa in season 9 (another example of overscoring-I never thought their charleston deserved 10s). It's a TV show, and I think it took some pros awhile to realize it's not an actual dancing competition. True, I don't think anyone wants the worst dancers to win. But if it were an actual dancing competition, why not cast all professional dancers and choreographers? Mark seems to be stuck in thinking he deserves greatness. Chelsea's a good dancer; I would agree she's probably one of the best left. But it doesn't mean she's perfect every week or that they deserve 10s just because the judges say they liked it. I do feel for her, because last night wasn't the first time I thought she looked uncomfortable. I think they get along, but at the same time I feel their chemistry is off. This season the tagline has been "most even and unpredictable" so it's no surprise the judges are attempting to rank everyone equal and find things to criticize.

Overall, in his 8 seasons, Mark has been extremely fortunate in the luck of the draw. He got 4 partners who were at or near the top as far as natural ability to begin with (Sabrina, Kristi, Shawn, Chelsea), two of whom had huge built in fan bases. He had a partner with marginal ability who stuck around way longer than deserved (Bristol) due to politics. His other three seasons he had mediocre talent that he did a mediocre job with, and got mediocre results. All in all, a better draw than any of the other male pros except his friend Derek, IMO.

Yes! I would dearly love to see him stamping his ugly little troll man feet in his ugly little troll man penguin shoes! :yay

No.
IMO "Point to the sky", "Point to the audience" and "Shake your boobs" is not marginal ability. Nor mediocre.
Thank goodness none of the contestants this season were so inept that they actually completely forgot their steps. Or stood there and shimmied or pointed, while their partners contorted their faces and bodies to distract from their complete lack of talent or musicality. Or had to wear a gorilla suit so the judges and audience would not notice that their feet were standing still.
Ahh, good times.
Re: Chelsea Kane & Mark Ballas - Season 12
As a professional dancer, has Mark actually participated in Official dancing competitions and if so, how does he act there when he is scored?

It really is a shame Chelsea got saddled with Mark - I dont' know if her fanbase is large enough to win this with any other partner but having Mark isn't helping.

I sure hope she doesnt' have that big of a fan base, cause the next vote is the only one that can oust them, other than that it's in the judges power with the scoring:down and we all know how that's going to turn out... booooo...
Re: Chelsea Kane & Mark Ballas - Season 12
She has some fans somewhere, because she keeps getting saved by the votes. I was so disappointed last night. If Chelsea and Mark win this, I really don't want to watch the show ever again.
Re: Chelsea Kane & Mark Ballas - Season 12
It's those tweens and teens winning...darn parents need to take their phones away!!! He he!!!!!
I have a tween but she is in bed when show comes on and if she did watch live and wanted to vote for Chelsea I wouldn' t let her. I'm a mean mom.
