Lindy Hop

Argentine Tango

• Lil' Kim & Derek
• Holly & Dmitry
• Gilles & Cheryl
• Lawrence & Edyta
• Steve & Karina

The Argentine Tango is described as:

• Being based heavily on improvisation
• a step can be smooth, pulsing, sharp
• the dancers' chests are closer to each other than are their hips
• embrace is not rigid, but relaxed, like a hug

The Lindy Hop is described as:

• basic step, the swingout
• connected hand-to-hand
• or connected as though in an embrace
• Turns and Spins, dips and lifts are common
• Similiar to the jive

Well if Steve-O is going to have ANY chance to survive the Lindy, Lacey is probably the best person to get him through it.

Thanks for the list. I just checked the net for some vids on the Lindy Hop and watched some fast paced dancing. Everyone who does this dance better have on flat shoes if they are going to be doing any flips. Then again maybe SteveO better not make the attempt! Looks like they will need some breathing lessons for endurance because I can see some huffing and puffing coming.

Hmmm Giles and Melissa get different dances again. I wish we could see them go head-to-head one night. It would be so exciting.

He's going to do an awesome Tango I can just see him get into the character. He's a dramatic dancer.

I think Melissa and Shawn are going to be great in the Lindy too. I think the bounciness will be up their alley.

I know it sounds awful but pooor Karina has to be all hugged up on Woz for a week working on the Tango hold. That man can sweat.

You're right about Steve-O and Lacey. I worry for him though. The Lindy Hop is a very fast energetic dance and if he's still hurt, it could be trouble.

I do think Lacey has the advantage pro wise in LH. O could have some problems because it's not an easy dance to do with a bad back and he seems to be really hurting.

I'll be really curious to see how Steve-O will pull off the Lindy hop. It seems like the perfect dance for him and Lacey to totally dominate the night with, and everything about it is so wrong for his injuries. I think Kym and especially Julianne and Mark will probably put together something wild for their routines. Since Ty has had two weeks of ballroom I hope going back to this type of dance against those people doesn't hurt his standing. But he's a likeable guy and trying so hard, so hopefully that'll work in his favor.

I'm mostly excited to see Gilles/Cheryl do the Argentine Tango. Edyta and Derek have put together some good tango routines in the past with their partners. I think all of those, even Holly and the Woz, may do really well with that dance.
