Well stated, and I concur your sentiments!

I don't know, Anders. Audrina was on the very bottom of the the DWTS Scores page both the week she left and the week before, so that is two weeks straight in a row for Audrina on that page.

Kurt is on both pages this week. Of course, he could get a bunch of online and texting votes, but it doesn't look good. Any of the guys would not be a complete surprise.

They could pull Bristol, but I really don't think it would be accurate if this is a true reflection of fan votes.
Since they don't even pretend to tell us what the votes are, they can do what they want and we don't don't the difference.

Actually, there is accountability....and, it is to the stockholders. Bottom line, if they don't keep the viewers happy, they won't keep the stockholders happy. I predict that the stockholders will be happy with this season, no matter what the cause for the ratings or the viewership happens to be.

Right - but that's an entirely different accountability. The stockholders only care about ratings and money. The viewers care that their voting counts - and until they decide to reveal the voting scores there is no accountability to the viewer.

Just a little "tongue in cheek" humor on my part. However, I do believe that the producers must have a way of making the decisions accountable to their bosses.

According to Dial Idol – Kyle is at the bottom in both percentages and raw numbers. I won’t be shocked by Kyle or Kurt leaving tonight, and it pains me to see Bristol last til semi finals.

Kurt is just above Kyle in percentages, but second in raw scores, with Brandy just above Kyle in raw numbers.

While reading the Team pages at ABC, I saw a post that claimed to be an excerpt of a post from Mark Ballas. It stated that the judges scores count for 50 percent of the total final score and the votes are the other 50 percent. If true, for me, that explains the unexpected eliminations. I did see that Kyle is at the bottom on Dial Idol and I was sorry to see it.

Dial Idol is only a barometer - and a weak one at that since it only counts phone in votes.

As for the 50/50 scores - the unexpected eliminations are most likely because of smaller fan bases. Especially when the judges are overscoring.

As I recall, yes, the final score for a couple is 50% judges' score and 50% viewers' votes. In the later weeks, the viewers gain more power. If anyone wants further explanation of how the judges scores are determined, I can write it out.

DialIdol drives me insane. Perhaps this season, it is accurately updating after the West Coast views the show, but, as I've written before, last season, the indicator never moved after it registered the East Coast phone calls. As many have written, a HUGE portion of the votes comes from online votes. Avid fans of the show are limited to, this week, only 5 votes per phone (excepting those who are able to vote from multiple phone numbers). So I really believe that most of those fans take to the Internet to do the most damage. As far as I know, there's no indicator that measures those votes which can, and probably do, dramatically alter the Dial Idol standings.

At face value, yes, the viewers' votes determine the winner, but the show has built-in methods to select their chosen winner or to protect the dancers they want in the finals. Inflated judges' scores and comments are examples of those tools.

This season, however, the rules have changed. Last season, by this week, it became obvious who they wanted in the finals; they'd even say "you should be in the finals," as a hint to the audience. Now, though, such words seem to be an omen for elimination. They said it to both Audrina and Rick when they were at the height of their success, and they're both gone. They said the same to Brandy last night.

The show has been successful this season in making the semi-finals and finals somewhat of a guess. Most of us assume that Jennifer will be there, but the other two spots *appear* (they're probably not) to be a crapshoot. I do think that the producers know their final 3 and have for a few weeks now.
