It is, but I don't think it's openly backed anyone on DWTS since Cloris. It's been promoting Idol's Tim Urban this season. But there could be other groups out there doing the same thing.Is VFTW still operational?

If DI is really an accurate indication of viewer voting, and unless the very high ratings were responsible for a lot of first time viewers (who will not continue to vote) voting perversely out of sympathy or for kicks, these kind of results, if consistent, could prove the death of the show. Can you imagine a finale with Kate, Buzz and Pam? The judges are going to have to start scoring people acurately (meaning pulling out the 1 and 2 paddles) in order to restore some credibility to the results. Of course we always knew it was a popularity contest first and foremost, but those numbers are ridiculous!Originally Posted by Bloomers;3860825;
DI is not that far off as far as in reflecting the actual vote, and certainly not anything like 50%. However, that said I am suspecting that the vote was skewered in some way such are Vote for the Worst or electronically rigged, etc.Originally Posted by ironcat;3861842;
There is just no way it would make such a super-sized mistake.
I posted earlier how sdl found from his inside source - much to his displeasure I might add - that the producers discovered "dirty voting" for Gilles. When they eliminated those votes, Shawn went ahead in the votes for the win.
This says to me that they are aware that "dirty voting" occurs and that they will somehow/someway manage it or take it into consideration.

First of all, I have to admit being stunned by the reports of Khate being in the lead vote-wise.Originally Posted by ironcat;3861842;
Second, I must admit that I did send some votes Buzz's way. Not because I thought he was the best dancer, but because I'd vastly prefer seeing him over Khate. I also voted for Evan and Erin because I enjoyed their beautiful dancing. (And their partners.)
The dancing is important to me when I'm voting but "likeabilty" plays a part, also.
That doesn't mean I would blindly vote for someone - especially towards the end - if they were a horrible dancer. It does mean if there was a finale between the most technically perfect dancer who was obnoxious and a dancer who was not quite as good but entertaining and "nice," in that case I'd vote for the less competant dancer. Especially if I liked the pro.
I don't think you can overlook the fact that as the years have gone on, we who watch frequently develop pro favorites who actually can affect our voting. (If we're honest, most of us will admit that to be true.)

I've only watched one other season (so correct me if I'm wrong) but generally aren't the trainwrecks gone and the F3-F4 are actual contenders and not just vote getters?
A F3 of Pam, Buzz and Kate would be an abonimation in my book and would completely turn me off of this show. Although I do believe that the die hard fans who vote week after week take the show 'seriously' (for lack of a better expression) and do ultimately vote for the better dancers......am I right?

I am beyond shocked that Kate is in the lead according to DI. Obviously, she can't dance a step so it must be her "fans" pulling her through because they like, or identify with, her and actually bought into her schtick. I, honestly, never thought she'd have that many fans considering what a joke she and her exhubby have become. Wow, I can't believe it!
That said, I wish we could vote people off rather than in. I'd vote off Kate in a heartbeat. She needs to stay home with her kids and go back to nursing. It's a wonderful profession and it pays well.
Guess I'd better step up and vote next week. My favorite is Evan Lysechek.
It's too early to tell, since nobody's actually been voted off yet, if this season is in jeopardy of being the first, but I don't believe that there has yet been a season when someone who could barely dance made it into the finals or semi-finals (some might argue Marie Osmond, but although she outlasted truly good dancers, ala Jenny Garth and Sabrina Bryan, she wasn't totally horrible, and Ty should have left before lil Kim but he was very endearing to many). And it could be that fans may stop voting whimsically and start voting more seriously when the better competitors (or ones with lots of potential) are in danger of leaving for the sake of Kate and Buzz. I also believe that the dance-off will be making a reappearance mid-season. However, if all this fails to restore some sort of sanity, I believe the judges will start to "re-correct" with their paddles. It will take a lot of votes, particularly later in the season, to overcome a 20-point deficit in scoring, which I won't be surprised to see if it is necessary to ensure there is no "joke" winner.Originally Posted by anders332;3861868;
Another factor that plays into how people vote is how the judges critique the dancers. Bruno comparing her dancing to Tony pushing around a shopping cart most likely garnered her a few sympathy votes. Although she was bad - those kind of comments do make me wince, because they're not productive, just hurtful. They did it to Steve Wozniak and Steve O a couple seasons ago and because of it I threw them a few votes, but they were the kind of dancers you knew wouldn't make it far anyway, so it didn't matter.
And nanarama - you are right - the pro dancers are definitely a factor. Poor Tony - will he ever win the ball?

The pro dancers typically are a factor, which makes the DI results even more confounding. Ashley(who?) and Tony are not the ones pulling in those votes this time over Derek, Maks and others.Originally Posted by anders332;3861887;
I didn't mean to imply that Tony and Ashley are helping this votes this time, only that the pros have their fan bases as well.
