Hey, if it means a Gilles win, I'm all for it Since Helio's win, Maks comments about producer manipulation, the obvious way they wanted Kristi to win, I've believed that they may have a hand the results. Maybe not outright rigging them, but the last dance the couples do solely for the judges scores could give them a sway in the direction they want. I always believed they didn't want Brooke to win, they wanted Derek, to complete the Hough/Ballas dynasty. Plus, since season 3, it had been all athletes that had won. Something Len said to both Jason and Warren had me curious, when he said "you're the people's champion, even if you aren't our champion". Wouldn't that mean the people would in fact vote for them to win? I mean, Kristi was a well known and very likeable, popular figure skater, so her winning over Jason wasn't a surprise (all the propping her up aside). But I didn't believe Brooke went in being that well known, and the fact she was being given 10's the second dance had me knowing she was "the one". I didn't find her dancing that great, though better than Warren. But he became a huge favorite from the word go, when many didn't have high expectations. Seriously, Tom didn't even sound that enthusiastic when he announced Brooke as the champion.

No! If I had to hazzard a guess (common sense), his agent said to him something along the lines of, "This will give you the oppportunity to get your face recognized and your name known even in the amount of time that you do happen to remain on the show. Your name will be linked with SATC when you are announced, and people will associate you with a hot movie and as a credible actor. Moreover, we will draw the attention of ABC casting directors who before now were unfamiliar with you."

He has accomplished what he set out to do which is to gain recognition and to more acting parts.

I guess I was hoping that any manipulation and propping up was the judges/producers trying to even the playing field for those that were less well known (Gilles, Brooke, etc). I still hope that is the case, but it will really bother me if all of this is just for promoting the next ABC show. It's one thing to have actors in the audience, but its another if they push dancers into the finals (Melissa and Gilles) for promotional purposes. Maybe we're just lucky that they are the top dancers this season. I would just prefer if they wouldn't interfere with the final outcome. We'll see - already I question the choice of PD - obviously Gilles advantage.

One difference is that Kristi did have the popular vote over Jason every week but one where as Warren held it and sometimes exceedingly over Brooke several times.

Carrie Ann in one of her blogs said that it was very difficult for a woman to win because the woman had to dance the pro's part ( which is much more difficult than the male pro who is more the frame's part).

However, you can't have a man win every season. First, your audience is primarily women, second women can see that the women's role is more difficult, and third it would be discriminatory.

That said, technically Brooke was the more precise dancer who danced the more difficult parts. SOMEHOW she won even though I am hard pressed to reconcile that wide discrepency of the popular vote on DI with the Finale. She would have had to had all 10s, and he would have had to have had 6s and 7s or something like that.

I still wonder, though. I guess it depends on how big of a role he will have in the show. If it is a prominent character, surely they knew he would be taking the part weeks ago and a win for Gilles would be very good for publicity.

When asked, he is playing coy and saying, "It's a secret." One time when asked how many episodes he would be on, he said that they were still talking about it which leads me to think that he has a guest role which could turn in to a main role as time goes on depending on how things work out ( and we are now out of my expertise!)

My problem with the hypothesis that they care about who takes home the fugly trophy is I don't see a win for either the DWTS producers or ABC (who are not the same). With DWTS the F3 gets pretty much the same exposure as the F1. Regardless of their placing, all of the "stars" have benefited their careers (to varying degee's) by being on the show. If Gilles is F3 and ABC wants him to get more exposure on the talk-show circuit to promote his new project, they can still make this happen.

Actually, the winner will get quite a lot more exposure (insert joke here)--magazine covers, late-night talk show interviews and the like, than the second and third place finishers. As for Gilles on Brothers and Sisters, I'm hoping they make him yet another illegitimate offspring of William Walker. Oh, and the winner gets a BUNCH more money.

I might just tune into B&S just to see if he can actually act....mission accomplished ABC, although I'm watching DWTS because of Melissa. They're brainwashers, they are......LOL

And the same set of circumstances could apply to Melissa. Judges now know Gilles has a place to go when this is over, so walla Melissa need the win to jump start her limelight career.
