I'd guess that he's wanting to show a different side of himself as well. His sensual side is well established and he needs to demonstrate an ability to play different roles to move his acting career forward.

I expect Melissa to win as she's best suited (available) to heading up a DWTS tour. Lil Kim is having scheduling conflicts trying to rehearse and Shawn just needs to get on with her life. Gilles probably already has something else lined up which we'll hear about during the post DWTS media blitz.

    Whatever he is doing....whooooo whooooo

Beyond the "acting" and the smouldering sex appeal, Gilles is hitting all the footwork, he is graceful, on the mark,
    he is dancing perfectly

Carrie Ann said it : can barely tell who is the professional or not when they are dancing

Not to mention that Cheryl is one talented dancer/cooreographer....2x champ of dwts herself

I am rooting and voting for them
I simply enjoy watching their dances

Right there, is the key. when you can't tell who the pro is from the non-pro, you have the best couple dancing, IMO.

You are exactly right...but he pushes natural sexy into cheesy sexy by overacting it to me. It's like he's the stereotypical dumb blonde who overplays sex appeal because there isn't anything else there. As I've said before..."Coming soon to an off-the-Vegas-strip fuzzy velvet lounge near you!"

The "stereotypical" dumb blond has given Paris Hilton a long ride on the fame bus. Perhaps he is thinking: If its good enough for Paris its good enough for me.
He is by far the best celeb dancer. And if he was a female no one would care that he was selling his sexuality while dancing. I say if you got it flaunt it.

I have to say that at first look, Gilles was completely not my type. As I posted earlier, Steve Buscemi and Paul Rudd are my type. However, once he started dancing - hello! Dude can dance, and do it with passion and skill. Now he seems sexy to me when he's sitting in the background, stumbling through training or goofing around with his kid. That is the power of being able to do something really well.

His sex appeal is obvious, couple that with studio reaction to the bare chest/performance, and CA's 'fanning' of herself a few times already - may not sit well with some voters who may think he's highly overrated.
I have stated many times that he smoulders with charisma; however, I have also stated that more is not always better. Too much sexual input can cause a man to appear smarmy rather than sexy. Just as Cheryl appears to have backed off of loving all over him ( with all of the criticism) and we have seen his child brought in to practice to offset any rumors of anything going on between the married Gilles and the single Cheryl, I think Cheryl may need to rethink over sexing Gilles in the routines.

There has to be a reason why Gilles ended up in the middle of the pack on DialIdol this week inspite of being on top of the leaderboard. I think that it may be because there is a response by some to too much overt sexuality in his dances.

I think it is interesting the comments about how some of you think Gilles won't win, because I'm thinking the opposite, that either he or Shawn will probably win. I HOPE Melissa wins, though. I would be so thrilled for Tony.

I wouldn't be surprised if Gilles does at least part of the tour, as long as his injury permits it. Although I'm sure DWTS is providing a huge boost to his career, I don't think he will be going up against Brad Pitt for roles quite yet.

I wouldn't mind seeing them teamed up in something, though. Woo Hoo
