Is this the first time there have been so many injuries? What will happen if Gilles has to drop out? Can he come back when his shoulder is healed? I sure wish he can finish the season!

Just read on another board (am I allowed to say that?) that Gilles said he is definitely dancing through the pain tonight, and "won't be wearing much", which I take to mean an open vest with no shirt. Also, his doctor has recommended surgery on his shoulder after the show, and if they survive this week, he and Cheryl will be doing the jive next week.

I don't think there is any question that they survive this week whether Gilles is injured or not. I'm sure fans will pull them through to the next round.

    Open vest? Ooh-la-la!

I didn't click on the link, but I assume he means IF he makes it through this week.

As others have noted, there have been injuries before, but not THIS many. This season is ridiculous! The injuries are also with younger celebs, not 50 or 60 somethings. They might have to resort to C list understudies! We also can never forget the need for drama on this show, so sometimes it's hard to tell how serious an injury actually is. . .also "surgery" is a board term. Gilles could need "surgery" of the endoscopic variety at some point in the near future, but we won't know how serious it truly is until he drops out, if he does.--Which I'd hate to see because of his performances and the level of competition he brings to DWTS.

He has intimated that physically he intends to make it through the dance this week. No doubt he will be scored and voted through to next week. I think that is a given.

Since he can't have surgery until after the season, the question becomes whether he can further compete with the shoulder in the shape it is.

We know that whatever dance Cristian performed, Cheryl choregraphed around his bad arm. She was able to do that, though, because of the dance involved. It was also very late in the season when his injury occurred.

What is involved in the jive? Is it like the Lindy Hop where Gilles will be expected to flip or to have the strength to flip Cheryl around?
Can he do a respectable jive with that bum shoulder?

Also, at one point somebody reported that he said he had reinjured his back. Was that a mistake, and the poster should have said "shoulder"?

Actually, he just said "next week we're doing...". Only after a few times of saying that he added "if we're still here".

I remember last season when Brooke hurt her ankle, yet she went on to win. Didn't she practice in the pool after that, or was it before? I agree that the show needs Gilles to go as far as he can but if they won't keep injecting his shoulder with cortisone, I don't see how he can continue with lifts and be able to hide the pain.
