I'm surprised Gilles and his side isn't doing VW this week with Mel's side all doing PD. They could have then just flipped one person to the VW side to even it out some. It would have been more consistent and more fair for all.

No, the show assigns their dances. I do find it odd that the other two in his group are now doing VW and he is doing PD. On the flip side they moved four couples from Mel's side to Gilles side instead of just having flipping one couple over and having Gilles side do VW and Mel's side do VW. I think Cheryl is in a new relationship, which started right before DWTS. It looked like she was very happy from the picture I saw. Can't remember where I saw this, though. And I agree with Coco, too. He's an actor. When he dances, he has to convince himself he's in love with Cheryl. And she is good enough of an actor to pull this off too. Sometimes the chemistry is just amazing, and the partners aren't involved at all. I guess I can think of Sandra Bullock/Keanu Reeves as an example. And sometimes real-life partners have no chemistry on stage (Julianne and Chuck, maybe?). When I watch them dance, I convince myself they are in love. And that's what it's all about. I don't think it's anything more than that. She seems pretty hard on him in rehearsals sometimes. I really feel like I'm in the minority when it comes to Gilles. In his last dance, all I saw was some very dramatic walking and great facial expressions. He was sharp and precise in his walking and head positions -- which I admit takes control -- but honestly, I wanted to see more technical content to the dance. Even after watching it twice, my response was "is that all?"
Dances do not need to be packed solid with tricks and they certainly do not need to be fast. Just a little more content would make me more satisfied. My score for them was closer to 8's than 10's. I'll go hide now.
The chemistry between them is electric! Cheryl and Gilles are the perfect pairing for each other on the dance floor. Cheryl is so focused on Gilles, she admittedly did not see anyone but Gilles while they performed the AT. As electrifying as they are on the dance floor, I think that is where it ends. Gilles and French and of Italian heritage and I think by nature is more demonstrative and sensual. Cheryl and always outgoing with her partners and her affection for Gilles is genuine and hard to hide. That said, he is married with 2 kids and his wife Carole was in the audience and CA even acknowledged her after Gilles performed. To Carole's credit, in response to his nudity in the movie SATC, I read where she took his appearance it stride. Good for her because he has caught the eye of many women!
