I just had a thought about this dance duel. Is it possible that Melissa & Gladys have huge fan bases that could carry them to the finals, and that is why the duel was brought in? Neither have been in the bottom 2, even with their low scores. Makes one wonder???

Oh and they can stop calling Sherry's elimination the biggest shock of the season. Please.

So Donald's tweet may have the wrong day, but supposedly they are doing the marathon dance this week, as well as their regular dance and the dance duel. Normally that dance is done Monday, but he tweeted they were doing the marathon dance Tuesday on the results show. Now, that's another way for the judges to hand out freebie points. And if they did it Tuesday, it'd be after the viewers voted, so it'd be a dance up to them to score, give someone a 10 point lead (or more, depending on how the bottom celeb ranks), and then they get to decide who goes home. If Donald is right, and the marathon dance is Tuesday, then this is the most desperate the show has ever become in keeping favorites around. Maybe the stooges begged for more power because they're so qualified to judge a TV show? I hope they enjoy it while they can. And hopefully, Donald has the day wrong and the marathon (which I hate anyway, and we already know Katherine or William will 'win' it) is on Monday.

This season went downhill in a big hurry. And I'd like to think next season would be better, but I know either the celebs or the producers will screw it up for me. At least there's Youtube and the seasons when the show was classier and fun.

I do think it's possible that someone they don't want to see screw up their ideal final 5 is doing much better in the fan votes and could be a spoiler to upset that. Either way, I'm just over their argument at keeping better dancers around when the judges prove how pointless and incompetent they are at their job, and just as biased as the viewers who are voting. And the fact that they cast controversial celebs knowing full and well they could outlast better dancers because they bring the controversy. And if they bring the ratings, I guess the producers don't care. Just give the mirrorball to William or Katherine and call it a season and pretend it was a tight and fair race all the way through to the end. Oh, and don't forget to throw in the hype about it being such a competitive season, even though I think the quality is going down.

Another blog has confirmed that there will be a dance marathon this week. The selected dance will be the Cha Cha.

For those couples that find themselves in the bottom 2 the dance off will be to a Jive.

So do they tell everyone , that the Jive if for the bottom two and the dance off.?

I think that's a lot to expect the celebs to do. And I think that's one reason the dancing isn't as good as it was in earlier seasons. I can barely remember any real, true stand out dances in the last few seasons, but going back to season 1, I remember Kelly's samba, John O'Hurley's freestyle (both of them), season 2 all of Stacy Keibler, Drew Lachey, Jerry Rice, and so on. Trying to fill up two hours by throwing in new dance duels (which are going to be easier for some to learn than others, especially since for some celebs (Melissa, Gladys, Jaleel), that really will be a make or break for them), the group dances, team dances, marathon dances. It's too much, and it's not enjoyable. I also hate the variety of dances in a week. I liked the old format where, up until week 6, there were just 2 dance styles. Not 1 for one couple, 1 for another, 3 for one group, 2 for another.

Also, I would consider Tom to be in the know about a lot of DWTS happenings. But at the beginning of the season, he was asked on twitter if they were going to have a double elimination since they had one more couple than they usually do in the spring. He said no. So did he really not know, or was the double elimination added at the last minute (might as well get all the conspiracy theories out there :winkgrin)

So according to this, the marathon dance is Monday, not Tuesday. And this doesn't mention any double elimination, so either DWTS Gossip's source was wrong, or ABC needs better web monkeys. Hopefully it's the former. Looks like a lot of good performances this week. And glad we're getting the original artists to the Motown hits this week. Melissa/Maks are dancing to The Miracles song 'Ooh Baby Baby'. Plus, we get Val, Louis, and Anna this week in some pro numbers.
