I sure hope so beachgirl! I don't see the possibility for improvement in many of them, though... I'll still be watching-- I need my DWTW fix!
(I like your name. I'm heading down to the Caribbean in 19 days and can't wait to feel my feet in sand!)

Thanks, have fun in the Caribbean - I'm totally envious!
You're right - there do seem to be quite a few weak dancers so far. It seems like this season more than ever, they are really trying to stretch the demographic appeal but in so doing, I think maybe they didn't focus enough on trying to find capable contenders. But its early - and I'll be watching regardless as this is one of my favorite shows.
Thank you! Here's how pathetic I am... I'm watching the show again!(I just discovered that they are repeating it tonight) I'm going back and forth between the show I'm watching and catching just the dancing again. Not as bad as I had thought last Monday night. Maybe there's hope after all!
I think the bright side is, a lot of these dancers have room for improvement. With the exception of Steve W. and Ty, I think it's anybody's game right now. I'm really excited to see how everyone progresses. There's been some great mediocre to excellent dance stories that stars have had on here. I wasn't too excited when I saw the list, and don't have too many to root for. But I think it's going to be a great season. At least I hope so.
And for those that watch The View-the video of Friday's episode is online and also posted on Youtube but was a pretty funny spoof of Sherri Shepard visiting the DWTS set in her quest to find Maks, complete with telling Cheryl her fantasy of doing the rumba with him, smacking Nancy in her bad knee as she saw Maks out of the corner of her eye, and pushed Karina aside as she went to have Maks do a little dance with her. I'd love to see her be an actual contestant on the show.
Karalott, thanks for the heads up about The View. Sherri would be great!
Looks like ABC is setting up Twitters for all the contestants. Ty mentioned in his blog that ABC approached him about it. And that it would be posted on ABC's site tomorrow.
But I found it. I also found ones for everyone except Chuck & Lawrence. (And Steve Woz, but he already had one). Most of them don't have any postings yet & none of them have followers since ABC hasn't told people about them yet.ABC has now talked to me about it because they want me to start twittering, so they set up an account where I send out short text messages that become instant blogs. It allows me to keep everybody instantly informed about whatever it is I'm doing.
The messages will be posted online at the "Dancing with the Stars" page on ABC.com as well as through Twitter (if you sign up for the service). I'll try and find out how you can receive my tweets and include that in my blog tomorrow.
Here are the ones that already have postings:
Ty: Twitter / TyDWTS
Denise: Twitter / DeniseDWTS
Holly: Twitter / HollyDWTS
Gilles: Twitter / GillesDWTS
Steve Woz: Twitter / votewoz (already had one set up)
And here are the ones without:
Melissa: Twitter / MelissaDWTS
Lil' Kim: Twitter / LilKimDWTS
Steve-O: Twitter / SteveoDWTS
Belinda: Twitter / BelindaDWTS
David: Twitter / DavidDWTS
Shawn: Twitter / ShawnDWTS
I'm also posting the links of the twitters that already have postings it the contestants' threads.

Has ABC set up twitters for the contestants in the past? If not, this really bothers me. If the other contestants have the resources to set up twitters, I think they should have their own people take care of it. This was one way Steve W had to reach his fan base, and ABC is handing it to the others. Other contestants (Melissa, maybe Steve-O, maybe Holly) may get air time in other settings. Does this mean ABC will set up extra air time for the others? Obviously, not. That's one way that those I mentioned are (possibily) reaching their fan bases.Originally Posted by ky-la;3383816;
Does anyone else share this viewpoint?
Twitter is a relatively new social networking system (a couple of years) so I'm not sure why this would be unfair. It is free to anyone (like Facebook is) so no one needs 'resources' to use it and set up a fan base. If ABC is setting up the accounts that, to me, just means more equality for the contestants in this season. It's easy to set up a copycat account and pretend you're someone you're not so maybe ABC will help monitor that to make sure the public is getting info from the actual contestant and not an imposter. I think is a great idea!Originally Posted by DayByDay;3383999;

By resources, I mean computer literate people with the time to set up the account. I wasn't talking about cost, or some type of exclusive right to join.Originally Posted by HillCntryGrl;3384033;
I think ABC should have done this at the start of the season, or waited until next season.
As I said in Steve's thread, I am very interested in seeing how effective Steve's fan base will be, and I don't like ABC stepping in to try to equalize the field in one instance, but not in others.
Does ABC monitor the facebook accounts, or myspace, for that matter? I don't think so.
My point is that some get more air time, or recognition in some public way (e.g., at a country music event or gymnastic or rodeo event) and that's up to the individual celebrity. Steve W and his people and his fan base know computers, and computer services. They know about the latest in this area - including social networks. Let the other celebrities take advantage of what they know.
Why didn't ABC do this before this season started? My guess is they didn't think of it, and wouldn't have, if Steve (or another contestant) hadn't set one up.
