Isn't it enough torture, as it is, to be subjected to Carrie An Inaba on DWTS?!!
Yikes - a whole show with her, billed as "girly", no less !!

I was really looking forward to the new version of "1 vs. 100" on Game Show Network. But it's virtually unwatchable with her as host, she's just awful. Which makes me sad, because I loved the Bob Saget version of that show.

Between CA, Brooke, and sometimes Bruno, I mute DWTS more than I ever did. She's gotten so intolerable to watch and listen to, between her attitude of thinking she knows everything and hating to get called out on something, and her obvious like and dislike of certain celebs/pros (Bruno can be guilty here, too). I wish she needed to take a few weeks off, but I think they'd have to literally drag her out of there. I can't imagine watching a show she produces or starred in on her own (I couldn't-Dance Wars anyone? Perhaps the most overhyped show of nothingness ABC ever put out). I did like Drew as a host, though

    On a completely different note:

'Dancing' champ Cheryl Burke: I was molested as a child
    03:57 PMYahoo! BuzzShare

Two-time Dancing With the Stars champ Cheryl Burke, 26, is telling her life story in a new book Dancing Lessons.

And she's truly telling all, including that she was repeatedly molested by a family friend when she was a child.

The dancer's abuser was a retired mailman who was trusted and well liked in Burke's Bay Area community. He would sometimes pick her up from school and do odd jobs around her home. Burke's parents split when she was a baby. The assaults began when she was 5, reports People.com.

"They're not secrets. There's no shame," says Burke.

After the abuser was accused of targeting other children, Burke acknowledged her own abuse and went on to testify against him, helping to send him to jail for almost two decades.

"I felt guilty for wanting his love and affection," Burke says. Speaking out against him in court was "the hardest thing I've ever done ... I saw his face and lawyers were asking me these questions and I was like, 'What am I doing? Did he even do anything wrong?'"
I read in another article she also opens up about being involved in a couple of abusive relationships (I had heard of one). I give Cheryl a lot of credit, she's taken some flack throughout the past few seasons for being a party girl, and the issue of her weight gain during season 7, and the whole awkward partnership between her and Chad for season 10. This can't be easy but she's got a very high profile from being on the show, so she's probably going to touch a lot of people, and may find her fans reaching out that shared something similar.

SEOUL -- Derek Hough, three-time winner of "Dancing with the Stars," and Korean pop star BoA have been cast in dance film "COBU 3D."
The pair play members of rival New York families - the owners of underground night clubs -- who compete in a dance contest and fall in love.

Pic is helmed by Duane Adler, who penned "Save the Last Dance" and "Step Up," and their sequels. Robert Cort, who exec produced the "Save the Last Dance" pics, produces, with Korea's CJ Ent. and BoA's agency SM Ent. on board.

Lionsgate Intl. has taken sales rights for all territories except Korea, China and Japan, which are being handled by CJ Ent.

Shooting starts in New York and Toronto in the spring. Pic is set to be released in early 2012.
I'm guessing this means Derek may really be out for season 12

Yep Derek is out for Season 12. Sad but keep your vision on the future and what it will be like to see him on the big screen and in 3D to boot and he'll be back for Season 13.

That's what he says but who really knows. Julianne's hiatus was supposed to be brief, too. Derek I was tired of as a pro, so I'm hoping someone else doesn't fill the designated slot he'll be leaving (my guess is Mark or Dmitry, if either are back). Mark's part of the trio and CA/Bruno seem to love Dmitry as much as they did Derek, and often squared off against Len when he gave constructive and correct criticism. Maybe it'll actually be an unbiased season after all I can hope, anyway. I'll miss Derek as a dancer, as I can't argue he wasn't amazing. I'm curious how this will affect the line up and pairings. By the way Maks's bachelor schedule is going, I'm guessing he's probably going to be out, too. I really hope this doesn't pave the way for Corky to stick around. I do hope this means Jonathan and Damian get to return.

Just saw the news about Derek. Access Hollywood actually has a quote from Conrad Green

Derek Hough Taking Break From ‘Dancing With The Stars’ | Access Hollywood - Celebrity News, Photos & Videos

All I can say is YAY YAY YAY! I'm like Kara, I didn't mind him as much last season, but the way his partners don't get judged to the same level as the others is absolutely ridiculous. And, I feel that Jennifer was so arrogant last season because she had Derek. She knew she was a shoe in to go far and probably win just on account of him and his fan base. I don't want to see his partners that cocky every time, and I'd bet they would be, no matter who they were.

Also agree with Kara-BRING BACK JONATHAN AND/OR DAMIAN! (I can do without Dmitry)

    Re: DWTS Media Thread

Truthfully, I'd much rather lose Mark, even if it meant having Derek back and seeing him win a 4th time. I think Mark has one of the worst attitude of the pros when he doesn't get his way. Last season it was almost comical that he really felt he and Bristol got shafted (I do think he believed that and wasn't just playing it up for her benefit). I stopped being a fan of his after I thought he came across like a bit of a jerk to both Kim Kardashian and Melissa Hart. He's been on the lucky end of the spectrum more times than most pros, so getting a dud or someone that isn't the judges favorite once in a blue moon should be making the best of it.

I don't really care one way or the other if Dmitry is back. I find him nice, but boring, and re-watching the first dance he and Mya did, he said something in his intro that he 'wanted to show his skills'. Considering both of them admitted Mya helped, or sometimes outright did the whole routine, I'm not exactly sure what he proved. I realize she's not the only one whose ever helped choreograph a routine, but it seemed a little much. I do miss Jonathan, and if anyone got the Derek spot, I'd hope it'd be him. He's more than earned it. Damian was a very nice surprise during season 10, and I'd really love to see him back on a regular basis. Of course Maks is my must have, but I'm still not counting on him Only male pros I really care to see besides him are Louis, Tony, Jonathan, and Damian. I'm still hoping that the judges can tone down the favoritism this season (specifically Miss CA). She took quite a beating on twitter last time, so maybe the show will reel her in. Of course, it's controversy, so I doubt it

I agree with you on most points. But, I'd rather have Mark back than Derek. For the simple fact that the judges don't seem to baby he and his partners like they do DH. Mark has had good partners, but also horrible ones, and he's been out early a couple of times. He doesn't seem to be immune like the Houghs. And part of that may be his attitude towards his partners (the judges may not like that)

It's harder for me to get excited about the new season with Derek out. Love him or hate him, his choreographer is twice as interesting to watch as almost any other pro's. And if this means that Mark gets to hog even more of the spotlight, then I'm going to be in agony. Maybe he gets a raw deal from his harsher critics like me, but he just bugs the heck out of me.
