In dance competitions, that is called being "clean". Many judges prefer a simple, clean dance over complicated and "messy".

But he had that choice to make. I think it's stupid to talk about his sacrifice, too.

These judges seem ready to make it worth his while.

The question was what he sacrificed, not for an evaluation of what that sacrifice was worth.
