Re: Marie Osmond & Jonathan Roberts - Season 5

I thought it was lovely - yeah, Marie has a new CD coming out, and they are all going on tour for the first time in 25 years -

but it was beautifully done - 125 family members on the stage. Lots of singing and dancing. lots of Love on that stage.
And Marie gave Oprah a brand, new Oprah baby doll. i didn't think she was gong to let go of it for the whole show!!

I cried, I laughed, I loved it - and it just wasn't long enough .

Marie/Donny sang some of their hits back and forth (yeah, and a little bit country and a little bit rock-n-roll)
Osmond brothers sang some of their hits (with the same old movements!)

Jonathan came and danced the jive with marie in her parents memory.

    oh, I'm tearing up again.

Ischmoo2: I too saw it and I had the same responses that you had to the show, especially that "it just wasn't long enough". I was not a particularly rabid Osmond fan, but I do feel they are a phenomenal family and very talented. I thought the show was a lovely tribute to their parent's legacy and very appropriate. They were really quite the successful family back in the day.
Oprah seemed as or more excited about that special Oprah doll than anything she's ever gotten. I which looked identical to the pictures of Oprah as a young child. I'm not usually a doll person, but it was certainly special.

I didn't see the dance introduced, was anything said? The intro was the only part of the show that I missed.

In used to watch their show every Friday night when I was a teen. I'm watching it now, and I'm tearing up. I taped it, cause I have the kids come home at four, when it's on and it's crazy here.

I enjoyed that hour more than any in recent memory. Like someone else said, I don't care for Oprah and never watch but today was worth it. I'd like to see it again right now. It was over far too soon.

The Oprah doll was adorable. I made dolls for years and really love them. She was outstanding.

The dance was introduced by Marie (wasn't it?) telling how her parents met and danced together way back when. I was pleased to see Jonathan's butt in those pants again.

I just finished watching the show, too, and I am so glad I did. And one of the main emotions I come away with after watching it is the feeling that "yes, this was right for them to go ahead with this." It was a deeply emotional show with real human emotions and yet a wonderful celebration of the best of the human spirit.

Watching and listening to the show, I laughed with them, I cried real tears with them, and I loved them. And I loved seeing Tom and Virl (Verl?) there with them. In addition to being an amazing chunk of American pop culture, they are an amazing family, individually and as a whole. George and Olive did good.

I could say so much more, and another time I'd love to talk about the great trip down memory lane in watching the old clips of all the Osmonds, but now with the show so fresh in the mind, all I want to do is cherish the gift it gave.

The show was simply beautiful. First time I have watched Oprah in over a year and I thought it was a wonderful tribute to their parents.

Not sure if it's the same in other parts of the world, but where I'm at (Mpls), each day's Oprah show is repeated at 12:30 am. Hopefully those who missed the show will get to see it tonight (myself included!)

I loved the entire show today on Oprah! When Marie danced the Quickstep with Jonathan, I thought it was a tape from DWTS but it was right there on Oprah's stage! Marie and Jonathan were fabulous! It was a beautiful tribute to their parents! Love the Osmonds.

Aww man, I can't believe I forgot to set Tivo for Oprah. Wonder if it's viewable online somewhere? I so wanted to see this one.

ABC runs Oprah reruns on Saturday nights. Maybe this week will be todays show. It was a good one.
