Simon Cowell Challenges America To Find The Perfect Mate

SIMON COWELL CHALLENGES AMERICA TO FIND THE PERFECT MATE FOR A YOUNG MICHIGAN WOMAN

"Cupid" – A New Reality Series From "American Idol" Judge
To Begin Production On May 19

Young Men Across The Country To Vie For Cupid Girl’s Affection And Her $1 Million Dowry

CUPID, a new relationship reality series from "American Idol’s" Simon Cowell that challenges America to find the perfect mate for one eligible young woman, will begin production on May 19 for broadcast later this summer on CBS.

Lisa Shannon, the “Cupid girl,” is a copywriter for an advertising agency. She is 25 years old and was born and raised in the suburbs outside of Detroit.

Along with her girlfriends, Kimberly and Laura, Lisa will soon begin a nationwide search to find the man of her dreams. She has the full package – looks, personality and brains. However, Lisa has been unlucky in love and is looking to her friends to serve as judges to help find Mr. Right and weed out Mr. Wrong.

The 11 episode series has two distinct parts. In the first two episodes, the "Cupid girl" will crisscross the country with her two friends auditioning potential suitors. During each audition, the guys will have 30 seconds to impress them. The auditions will take place in the following cities: Chicago (May 19), New York (May 23), Miami (May 27) and Los Angeles (May 31).

In episode three, the men who made the first cut have one more chance to win over Lisa as she and her friends select the final 10 candidates.

Beginning in episode four, the "Cupid girl" will get to know each of the 10 men better through a series of dates. During these episodes, Lisa’s friends will react to the filmed dates live, as they continue to judge whose intentions are honorable. Then, America will get the chance to play Cupid…casting their votes to protect Lisa from the men they perceive are wrong for her, in the hopes of steering her towards her ideal mate. While viewers decide who they believe is Lisa’s perfect match, the guy with the least amount of votes will be eliminated each week.

Once America casts their final vote, then it’s up to Lisa and her Mr. Right. Will he propose to her? Will she accept? And, will the couple be able to claim the $1 million dowry that’s at stake if they stay together?

Brian McFayden will host the series. He is best known as a MTV Veejay. Additional hosting credits include the MTV specials "Total Request Live" and "Hot Zone," as well as the 2000 and 2001 "Miss Teen USA Pageants" on the Network, and the "Ford Supermodel of the World Search."

Simon Cowell ("American Idol"), Craig Piligian ("Survivor") and Ken Warrick ("American Idol") are the executive producers for Cupid Productions, Inc., in association with FremantleMedia North America, Inc.
