You're right, JohnnyK . . .
Robin Gibb and Michael Clarke Duncan for me, too.
Also, Phyllis Diller and Andy Williams, too.
Gibb, Diller and Williams because I remember and grew up with them from years ago, and their talent was like a warm blanket on a cold winter night, to me.
MCD because he seemed such a good, sweet person, and his passing came totally out of left field and hit me --- and a LOT of others --- like a sledgehammer.
And he was so very, very young.

I was going to "like" your post, but thought maybe that would be in bad taste.
So I'll just go with "I agree".

Dick Clark's really got to me. I can't remember a time when he wasn't on TV & wasn't associated with modern music. Like he'd been there forever. It just seemed like he aged at half speed too. Like as long as music was there, he'd be there too.
It really did seem like "The Day the Music Died" to me.

Selena's death, after the fact. I had never heard of her when she was killed. Later on, watching the movie about her, I was so overwhelmed by the feeling that someone with so much potential was killed at such a young age for such a stupid reason that it made me cry. I hardly ever cry over things that my other female friends do so that shows how much it affected me.
Re: What celebrity death really affected you?
He's not really a celebrity - but when Thurman Munson of the NY Yankees died in 1979, I was depressed for months. He was my most favorite baseball player of all time - he was so young and in his prime. He was piloting his own plane to go back and forth between his home in Ohio and NY to spend more time with his family when it crashed. It was so tragic :ohno

Princess Diana, Michael Jackson, Heavy D,Biggie Smalls, Michael Clark Duncan,Tupac. I am a lover of music so most of mine are music Icons.
Re: What celebrity death really affected you?
Yes, Michael Jackson was another one. The biggest surprise was that he was 50. He just seemed so ageless. I still feel so sorry for his children, not just for losing their loving father, but for the den of vipers they've found themselves in. That's exactly what Michael was trying to avoid.
Re: What celebrity death really affected you?
Just going by this year, there were several that really affected me, but losing Marvin Hamlisch might have been the worst for me.
Re: What celebrity death really affected you?
The ones that really bothered me the most was Michael Landon, Patrick Swayze, Michael Jackson and Michael Clarke Duncan.
