On the eve of his death, Michael Jackson. I grew up listening to the Jackson five and loved both Michael and Jackie Jackson. I just felt it was a senseless death and I cried when I heard about it. I have so many memories of happy times in my life and sad times that I associate certain MJ & Jackson 5 songs to.

I also was affected by Princess Di's death too. Another senseless death.

As today has come, and I hear all the tributes, and more importantly the music, I would say Michael's death affected me. Dr. King was the most memorable and Princess Diana, Also, the deaths of 911.

Oh, Steve Irwin was a big one for me, too. That was a sad, sad thing.

As a history, Social Science nut, I stayed up and watched the Funeral of Di, Just like I watched her wedding.

    That was horribly sad

MJ's death, I cried at the tribute. I honestly can't believe it has been a year.

Freddie Mercury, lead singer of Queen.

Barry Evans, star of the Brit-com "Mind Your Language." That show was my guilty pleasure, and I can't help but feel sad when I watch old episodes

A more obscure one, David Gribble who built the robot Pussycat for "Robot Wars." The robot itself returned in subsequent years, but it was looking old and tired, as if in mourning for its departed master.

River Phoenix's death really got to me. I was just a kid at the time (13) and had literally just watched Stand By Me for the first time when I learned he had died. I was devastated, and his passing still gets to me. So young, so talented... who knows what he would have accomplished.

Tim Russert's death was a hard day for me. He was such a nice man and was partially the reason I chose the path in school that I did.

I will never be able to watch an election season and not think about what Tim and his white board would have said .

Luther Vandross' and E. Lynn Harris' deaths knocked me for a loop. Luther's mellow, sexy, romantic ballad delivery will never be duplicated. Soooo, so beautiful

I was introduced to the writings of E. Lynn Harris several years ago by a Blockbuster clerk who was also a college student. I cannot imagine not seeing another book from him. He had a very engaging style.

And I cannot leave out Princess Diana. I was trying to get dressed for work (in the wee hours of the morning), and I couldn't stop going to the tissue box.
