Maybe they are doing it for him. Not intending to go through with it, but to give him something to look forward too and something work hard for. A lot of people actually do better rehabbing from serious injury if they have a specific goal in mind. This may be his.

Bret Michaels' physicians are said to address his condition in a news conference scheduled for today. It's been said they will discuss treatment, and his prognosis. My continued thoughts and best wishes for his recovery.

I'm hoping he recovers too. Before Celebrity Apprentice i wouldnt have given two shakes about Brett Michaels! I remembered him from Poison and that awful reality dating show he did which was a complete copy of Flavour of Love! But seeing him on CA, i found him very human and a caring father. He seems very likable and just a regular guy.

Doctor: Bret Michaels released from hospital

By JONATHAN J. COOPER, Associated Press Writer Jonathan J. Cooper, Associated Press Writer – 26 mins ago

PHOENIX – Poison frontman Bret Michaels has been released from a Phoenix hospital and is expected to make a full recovery after suffering a brain hemorrhage last month, his doctor said Tuesday.

Dr. Joseph Zabramski, chief of cerebrovascular surgery at the Barrow Neurological Institute at St. Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center, said he recommended that Michaels wait at least four to six weeks before resuming normal activity. He declined to say when Michaels could resume touring. Doctors will examine Michaels every two weeks until he's recovered.

"This produces a great deal of stress on the body," he said. "This is like being involved in an accident from inside."

Zabramski said Michaels is fully conscious and aware and talking fine, but he has back spasms and headaches when he tries to walk. He could continue getting back pain and headaches, but Zabramski doesn't expect any other long-term effects. He wouldn't say when Michaels was released or whether he was sent home or to a rehabilitation facility.

The 47-year-old contestant on "The Celebrity Apprentice" is receiving therapy and will probably continue to suffer from severe pain for another seven to 10 days as blood pooled under his brain dissolves. Michaels is a Type 1 diabetic, which limits the available options to ease discomfort.

Michaels' was admitted into the hospital April 22 after suffering a severe headache. He was diagnosed with a subarachnoid hemorrhage, which causes bleeding in the fluid-filled spaces around the base of the brain.

Two tests showed that Michaels did not suffer an aneurysm, so doctors are unsure what caused his condition. They did not perform surgery or other invasive procedures, but they plan a third test to check again for an aneurysm, a bulge in a weak part of a blood vessel that makes it more likely to have a second hemorrhage.

It is unlikely that Michaels' hemorrhage is related to an appendectomy conducted on April 12 or to Michaels being hit in the face by a descending set piece at last year's Tony Awards, a mishap that left the rocker with a broken nose and a busted lip. Hard hits to the head can cause hemorrhages, but not almost a year after the incident, Zabramski said.

Michaels, who filmed most of NBC's "The Celebrity Apprentice" last fall, is one of five remaining stars vying to win Donald Trump's business-themed reality TV competition. The other contenders are celebrity chef Curtis Stone, reality TV diva Sharon Osbourne, former WWE wrestler Maria Kanellis, pop singer Cyndi Lauper and actress Holly Robinson Peete.

If he avoids being fired by Trump in upcoming episodes, Michaels' prognosis means he could possibly attend "The Celebrity Apprentice" finale May 23 at New York University's Skirball Center. The finale features the last two contestants performing a final task, typically organizing a charity event, then debating each other live in front of Trump.

Michaels' representatives previously announced that his tour appearances scheduled through May 21 have been postponed, but that his other concert dates through October, including a summer tour with Lynyrd Skynyrd, are going ahead as scheduled.

Michaels already has ample experience at staging comebacks. After glam-rock was edged out in the 1990s, the "Every Rose Has Its Thorn" singer found fame again on reality TV, starring as a judge on USA's singing contest "Nashville Star" in 2005, then as the bad-boy bachelor looking for lust on VH1's tawdry dating show "Rock of Love" from 2007 to 2009.

So, good news for now. Let's hope someone in his life can get him to stay down and recuperate and NOT go on the road immediately.

I'm glad that doctor shot down the reports that the stroke was linked to the accident at the Tonys.

That's excellent. I didn't think he'd be released so soon...hope he takes it easy for a while. That's a lot of trauma for the body to recover from.

I would be a uneasy if I were him that they didn't find the cause. Your brain doesn't bleed for no reason. I hope they figure it out to prevent a recurrence.

Yes it can. A friend of our's 18 year old son had it happen to him. It was touch and go for a few days, but he had no side effects and no explaination for why it happened. He's now 34 and fine.

That just means the doctors couldn't figure out why it happened - there was a cause, they just don't know what it was.

If Bret settles down and takes care of himself, I'm sure he'll do fine. He just hasn't shown he's able to do that. If this wasn't a wake-up call to slow down and take care of himself, I don't know what is.

What more can one Human Body take?

Bret Michaels Hospitalized for Stroke, Hole in Heart

Yesterday we watched Bret Michaels make a triumphant TV comeback on Oprah . Today, we're sending good thoughts his way.

The rocker, who recovered from a near-fatal brain hemorrhage a month ago, is back in the hospital after suffering a "warning stroke," according to a statement posted on his website .

He was readmitted this week "after suffering numbness on the left side of his body, predominately his face and hands," the statement reads. After performing some tests, his doctors discovered a hole in the Poison star's heart.

Michaels, who taped his interview with Oprah Winfrey before this setback, is still expected to recover, but his participation in this Sunday's finale of Celebrity Apprentice is in doubt, as is his planned return to the concert circuit on May 28.

"I realize Bret wants to make a full recovery so that he can be active with his family, attempt to attend the finale of Celebrity Apprentice and especially get back on the road to continue making music," says his neurosurgeon, Dr. Joseph Zabramski.

"Without a doubt he is very determined to get healthy and make a 100 percent recovery. Medically speaking it is a fantastic attitude both mentally and physically for him to have. However, Bret's brain and body are not quite 100 percent yet, especially with the hole found in his heart. Further tests will be conducted throughout the week."

Zabramski say the stroke and heart condition do not appear to be related to Michaels' brain hemorrhage. He has been given a regimen of blood-thinners and is being treated on an outpatient basis.

The 47-year-old singer, who is also diabetic, has been recovering at an Arizona ranch, with his family by his side.

"Even though these last few months have been tough on him and his family, especially this most recent setback, he is in good spirits, great medical hands and is positive and hopeful that everything is going to be OK," says publicist Janna Elias.

"He is up, walking, talking, continuing his daily rehab and very happy to be alive, but he has made it clear he is sick and tired of being in the hospital and is ready to rock again."
