There are LOTS of repercussions about this situation that affect a lot of people but he did what was right for his wife and children and I have to commend him for that. To see the most famous athlete make a decision to leave the sport that got him to where he's at in order to try to fix his family...well, Tiger earned some points back with me for this.

Like you, Bloomers, I wish them the best. Such a tough situation for Elin, but at least she'll be able to have him by her side and not traveling the world while they try to figure out where to go next.

I won't sugar coat this. He screwed up beyond the words that I can come up with to describe it. It is going to be beyond difficult to repair and save this marriage, and my hat is off to his young wife for putting forth what I see as a mindboggling effort. To be honest, although I know it is in the best interest of those children, I don't know if I were in her position if I could even try.
Without downplaying his horrendous behavior one tiny bit, I commend the two of them for trying to save the marriage and hope the media ( and all of those women) will just butt out and let them see if they can salvage it.

What Tiger did was wrong and he had an image to uphold but sometimes our images get tarnished and we have to try and rebuild but nonetheless he is a human being with human failings just like anyone else and he should be afforded the same kindness and concern that we would want for ourselves and our family and friends. My brother who is now deceased did some things like Tiger has but nonetheless I loved him in spite of it and let him know that what he was doing was wrong but never bashed him.
Exactly. while you are watching someone else's man or woman, your man or woman may be doing their own tomcating. This is exactly why I mind my own business it's the only business that matters.

Tiger's sponsorship is high because his value to the world of golf is high it has nothing to do with having a wife and kids. When Tiger was out with his knee injury golf rating went down 49% because Tiger Woods the Golfer was not around, not because of Tiger Woods the husband and father.

Any representation of who Tiger Woods was off the golf course was pure conjecture on the part of the person "buying his image" The only image I have of Tiger Woods is The Best Golfer and I can't wait until he returns to competition because it is boring without him.
Applause to you. Excellent post. His decision to not return for an indefinite amount of time will have a drastic effect on the golf world. And also, will miss him on our tv and see his profound ability on a golf course. Hope to see Tiger back soon.

Yah Tiger got caught, but what a lot of people fail to realize and don't know is that he got caught whereas the other guys haven't. Kobe got caught. But what people don't know is that MANY of the NFL, NBA, Golf, MLB athletes have women or a woman on the side. Some of them are good at NOT getting caught. Just like all the Senators and leaders of our country, they have women on the side. MOST don't get caught and then their are the ones who can't keep it a secret. It didn't surprise me that Tiger was cheating. I knew he went into the marriage young (Like Kobe) and that this was bound to happen. The day I found out from the media he was getting married I said to myself, "wow, that's a dumb move..married her for her beauty and she married him for his money." It's a well known fact to those in the industry and in the "athletic world" that these guys cheat on their wives. It's a whole different culture but it's real.

Totally......but it doesn't make it ok. Just because they are athletes....or rockstars....or rappers...or politicians....or MEN in general. Bleh. I can't stand it. I'm not ok with the idea that "men have been doing it for centuries" so women need to get use to it. Not cool.

I am bashing him because I know what it feels like when your husband feels that he needs to bang every female insight! My EX husband cheated on me with more women than I care to know about, when it all came to light he was soooo sorry, ya right, give me a break!

Taracran--hi. I'm sorry that happened to you. I think it has--unfortunately--been the experience of more than a few people here.

So I think many can identify with the pain of the marital situation--but I don't think most of us have any idea what it must feel like to have it all made so incredibly public.

I think it might have been the incredible stress of the public aspect of the situation that caused Elin's mother to collapse. (possibly a panic attack considering how short a time she was hospitalized?)

Been there to but what pain I suffered from it doesn't mean I have to bash him. People can be rehabilitated if they choose to and I stayed with my husband because I felt it was worth it and now am 38 years married.

I feel for Elin because it is a long road ahead if she stays with him and she will have many days of doubt and concern and it won't be easy and I know this first hand. There are two things she or anyone else in these situations do and that is to be bitter or be better and I chose to be better.

Glad to hear that you were able to work it out!
