Hmm... well I was paraphrasing something I hear ages ago. I may have misunderstood or mishead part of the information.

Sorry Johhny. I will continue to go to Disneyland on a regular basis and say HI to you on the Pirate's ride!
Would it make a difference if we remembered that the 1971 version with Gene Wilder was called "Willie Wonka & the Chocolate Factory" and the 2005 version with Johnny Depp was called "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory"?

(Now, I am wondering what we're all gonna think of JD as the Mad Hatter in the remake of Alice in Wonderland...)

I think JD as the mad hatter would be great.

Famita, I forgot about A STar is born. I think there were actually 3 of those. But the ones I like and remember where the Judy Garland version and the Barbra Striesand/Kris Kerstoferrson verions. I had (and still do) the album soundtrack for that version. Evergreen was one of my favorite songs in the 70's.

Kevin Zegers is a young, blandly handsome Canadian actor, probably best known to American audiences for the Air Bud series of movies. However, he is actually a good actor (won some awards). He did a fantastic job in Transamerica and there is no reason to expect that won't be able to pull off a decent depiction of Clyde Barrow.

Faye Dunaway apparently isn't any happier about The Duff playing Bonnie Parker than we are:

Dunaway and Duff Get Their Claws Out

(Feb. 4) - Hollywood catfight! Faye Dunaway and Hilary Duff have been trading barbs through the media, after Dunaway commented on the upcoming remake of her 1967 film 'Bonnie and Clyde,' starring Duff.

Dunaway, 68, asked the Chicago Sun-Times, "Couldn't they at least cast a real actress?"
Duff fired back in an interview on E! - first implying that Dunaway is irrelevant to a modern audience, and then taking a potshot at the elder actress' appearance. She told E! "I think it was a little unnecessary, but I might be mad if I looked like that now too."

Mean and catty, but a good one nonetheless.

Dunaway irrelavent to modern audiences? I'm sorry, but there are a lot of older actors that should be relavant to today's audiences. And Dunaway is one of them.
But I guess since they remade the Thomas Crown affair and put Rene Russo in Dunaway's role, then modern audiences forgot about the original movie. Ah, the fickle, fickle, modern audience.

    Duff is an idiot.

Love or Hate Hillary Duff, she does resemble Faye Dunaway quite a lot. The cheekbones especially!

I think Hilary Duff is cute, but there's a big difference between Hilary and Faye. Faye, at that time at least, had a classic beauty with perfect bone structure. She and Warren became the antiheroes with their beauty belying the truly ugly part of their inner nature. THat's what really resounded with the audience.
I just can't see Hilary doing that on screen. It's kind of like enlisting Britney Spears to play a sophisticated, classy woman.
