I had forgotten, or perhaps didn't know that Deborah Raffin had passed away.

I was scratching my head over that, too, Fanny. I don't remember hearing about her passing and she could not have been that old.

I remember having that reaction last night, too, but now I think I vaguely remember hearing she had died. It was probably close to a year ago, so the memory had faded.

Author Tom Clancy has died. He was a favorite for my husband who reads anything 'military' related.

ETA: Not sure why the link stops at "author of". Here's what it should say: Tom Clancy, author of ‘Hunt for Red October’ and ‘Patriot Games,’ dead at 66

I have read all of his books and enjoyed all the movies made from them as well. We are the same age and I am not old so farewell to a young man who could have added more to his life.

I'm not a fan of his books, but I was shocked to hear the news. Wow. I work at a library and I have several patrons that LOVE his books.

Didn't really know who he was, other than some obscure writer, but he didn't look well from his picture, and he looked much older than 66. I was struck by the pastiness of his complexion. Sad.

My husband was a big fan of his - particularly because he wrote with a military theme. Books always seemed to come out in November (his birth month) or in June (Father's Day). It made it really easy to shop for an otherwise hard-to-shop for guy.
