Football great Dandy Don Meredith passed away today. Sad.
I feel sorry for those who are too young to remember Dandy Don, Frank Gifford, and Howard Cosell as the commentators on Monday Night Football. My favorite show was the night when Howard was ill and ended up throwing up all over Dandy Don's cowboy boots. :eekQuote:

I always saw Cosell as a caricature of himself.
I was sorry to see the news about Dandy Don. He was always entertaining. I met Howard Cosell several times when I worked at ABC years ago. What you saw what he was and he wasn't very well liked by most of his colleagues. He was definitely unique and memorable though.
So true. I actually enjoyed watching the games with those three as the commentators, and I'm not a big football fan. RIP Dandy Don, we'll miss you.Quote:

Those were the days with those three though. Good memories. I have slowly, slowly, slowly quit watching NFL over the years. Barely watch any of the games anymore. I don't know why, but maybe because it's just not the same and the oldie goldies are retiring or dying off. Although I think Terry Bradshaw will be around forever.
I think I actually watched football back then, due to him and the others.
RIP.
Turn out the lights, the party's over." RIP Dandy Don, Monday Night Football hasn't been the same since. :sad
