God bless you, Dan. You've given me more hours of pleasure and reflection than you could ever know.
Of course, it was actually an album - not a CD. Oops.

    Re: Dan Fogelberg RIP

I just read this message from Jean Fogelberg on his website (bold is mine).

    Dan Fogelberg ~ News

"In February of 2005, Dan went to Colorado for a few weeks to supervise
some ranch business and to do some work in the studio. I stayed in Maine
to oversee the final construction phase of our Maine house. It was hard for us
to be so far apart for so long, especially since we would miss Valentine's Day together.

    On the afternoon of the 14th, the florist brought me a dozen long-stemmed red roses;
FedEx brought me a CD with a song Dan had written for me just for Valentine's Day.
The song is called "Sometimes A Song", and it will be available for digital download
at iTunes, Amazon, Rhapsody and WalMart.com the week of Valentine's Day.

100% of proceeds from all digital sales will be donated to the Prostate Cancer Foundation.

Thanks for all of your support, encouragement, and condolences.

    Happy Valentine's Day, Jean"

God bless Jean. My husband & I were just talking about Dan and I told him how sad his passing was to me. I hope that Jean is okay and that "Sometmes A Song" brings her joy and peace.

    RIP Dan.

Thanks for the link to that song and Jean's message, Marleybone.
Heading to iTunes now to buy the song.

I will really miss Dan's poetry and his music.

You're welcome. I'm anxious for the new album later this year. I have found it hard to listen to his music though, it just doesn't seem possible that he's gone.

Isn't it weird how that happens? I still, to this day, have never listened to John Lennon's Double Fantasy album since he was shot.

I know. I still listen, but now when I do it makes me feel sad. The new album will be really bittersweet.

I just found this and am so sad. Looking for a Lady was "our song" with my first grown-up love in college. I loved his first few albums and then kind of lost touch. I love his Christmas CD I picked up a few years ago. Wisteria was so haunting. I remember one line - must be from Souvenirs about a having a key to a house that was torn down long ago.
    Count your blessings!

Haunting is a good way to put it, Gut.

    Souvenirs

Here is a poem that my lady sent down
Some morning while I was away
Wrote on the back of a leaf that she found
    Somewhere around Monterey
And here is the key to a house far away
Where I used to live as a child
They tore down the building when I moved away
    And left the key unreconciled
    (Chorus)
And down in the canyon the smoke starts to rise
It rides on the wind 'til it reaches your eyes
When faced with the past the strongest man cries...cries
    (Repeat Chorus)
And here is a sunrise to set on your sill
The ghosts of the dawn moving near
They pass through your sorrow and leave you quite still...
    Sitting among souvenirs
    ~California 1971~

Oh, I am so sorry to read this news. I so enjoyed Dan Fogelberg's music back when I was in college and in my 20s. He was an old soul, no doubt, but way too young to die.
