If it's not true, that's just mean-spirited. If it IS true, then it's just tragic. She's 78, so she's the right age...
Even if it is true, I find it kind of mean-spirtied, because the only sources the National Enquirer cites are anonymous "close friends" of Carroll. What kind of crappy friends sell that kind of story to a rag like the National Enquirer--or any newspaper, for that matter. It's her business when and how to announce that kind of news. Their story also broke at the same time several insider Broadway sites were saying she'd been chosen to play Denzel Washington's mother in the new production of Raisin in the Sun, so one of the sets of stories has to be dramatically wrong. She couldn't very well have dementia severe enough not to remember song lyrics and be in talks to do a role on Broadway.

Incidentally, I've volunteered at a nursing home for over a decade, and I've seen lots of people with dementia bad enough to be in special care units who could still remember reams of lyrics/songs. Plenty of Alzheimer patients sing successfully from hymnals at Sunday services for which I've played piano too. I thought it sounded a little fishy that she was suddenly unable to sing because she couldn't remember lyrics, unless there's some reason that's a particular problem for her. Usually the fact that the words are set to music make them easier to remember, just as they are for people without dementia.

Now this story had me scratching my head. Simon Cowell to be a dad! The mother is the wife of his good friend. They aren't even divorced yet! I would have thought Simon got himself snipped years ago. I can't figure out how this happened. Wink, wink.

I know, I was surprised too. I somehow thought, like you he would have had things "done" a long time ago. He just doesn't seem like father/parenthood material.

And what kind of relationship do you have with a good friend's wife? I can't imagine what explanation there might be. EVEN if the good friend said "Simon, I don't care. She's my wife, but you can impregnate her." Still, that's tacky. It's just really bizarre, but I guess not uncommon.

I bet Simon will be an adoring dad. I've heard that Elton John really became a much nicer person after his little boy was born, although, I've heard Simon is already plenty nice.

He isn't the first to have an affair and he isn't the first to have an affair with a friends wife. Why didn't she take precautions? mucky pair.
