People like all kinds of crap. That doesn't make it not crap.
All I wanted was a 45, a stinking 45 - the record or the gun. I'd even settle for the damn malt liquor. - Al Bundy.

I don't get it either. She's off (sharp, I'd say, but I'd have to run it past my perfect pitch sister) live and auto tune is SUPER easy through microphones these days. But I'm an oldz. I'm of the Debbie Harry, Cyndi Lauper era and those gals could sing (and still can, though maybe limited like Elton and Billy Joel)...hell even Madonna to a point, though she was always more of a performer than a vocalist, but she's always owned her publicity. I just also have a hard time with the idea of "tweens" (gods, how I hate that term) "idolizing" pop singers. The most I learned as a "tween" is that I didn't want to do sailing, lest I capsize like Simon LeBon.

How true. Two words: Honey Boo-Boo (or is that 3 words?). Most people are just too superficial to see beyond what they're presented with ... and I think if Ms. Swift keeps going the way she is with her arrogant, immature pattern, even some of the most superficial will see her for what she is and get tired of her as quickly as she gets tired of her parade of men, although I guess the tweens and teens might still think it's cool to have so many boyfriends one after another and the ability to write silly, vindictive songs about them. Yup, good role model.

I am not trying to start a war....but why do we expect "celebrities" to be any kind of role model? Role models should be found in families, teachers, etc.

    Re: Miscellaneous Celebrity News

On this week's The Soup, Joel McHale announced that Taylor Swift had broken up with her latest boyfriend and asked when she was going to write a song about what a horrible girlfriend she is. Then he added that she was like the dinosaur in Jurassic Park: if she sense movement, she dates it.

And in defense of those of us who remember the Monkees fondly from our childhoods, though they were the pre-fab five, Mike and Peter were legitimate musicians in their own right, and even Mickey and Davy, who were hired more as actors than musicians, could carry a tune. In fact, as a boy, Davy had played the Artful Dodger in the London production of Oliver. Mike also wrote some of their music, and they all toured together in order to prove that they were, in fact, capable of playing and singing their own music (and that was before the days of auto-tuning).
