Jimmy Kimmel mentioned this last night. He said something like "I didn't know they still had porn theaters."
Why on earth would a well known person not do their thing at home? It's not like he couldn't afford a big screen TV.

Ironically, Fred Willard's next movie project is called The Yank. I'm not kidding. The Yank (2012) - IMDb

He was with people doing exactly the same thing he was, and anyone who doesn't want to see that knows (or should know) better than to go into a yank palace.
We actually don't know that the rest of the people (if they were "playing" that game) in the theater were arrested either...or what exactly what was going on.
I'm sure it was known among these guys that the police were doing sweeps so get a brain.
I agree with other posters...if you want to do that, stay home. You no longer have to go public with it.

Whether you like it or not, or think the police have other things to do, it's illegal to do so in public. He (and others like him) are far from stupid and know it's against the law...so it's probably the thrill of not being caught that makes it appealing and this time, he guessed wrong.
I can think of a lot of dumb laws I disagree with but I'd rather not be arrested so I obey them.

He should be glad he wasn't stoned, beheaded, or had to lose a particular part of his body, like they do in other countries.
To me, it doesn't matter what law he's breaking....he knew it was wrong so why excuse him by saying the police have better things to do?

Considering how thinly the resources of the LAPD are stretched at the moment, I'd prefer that they focus on dangerous crime rather than on something I view as silly (doing it in a porn theater, I mean- this is what internet porn is for!) and harmless. Even though it's illegal, I think the LAPD actually does have more pressing crimes to deal with than a 78 year old man sadly masturbating in a run-down porn theater.

If they're trying to bring in revenue for the city, I can think of several intersections where officers could sit that would bring in thousands of dollars worth of tickets every day and the crime prevention there would actually make the city safer. Heck, I used to work near intersections like that. One day, officers - and there were four stationed there - gave out 57 tickets before noon. Nice little revenue for the city and it made the streets a little safer for a while.

I find it sort of embarrassing how obsessed with sex Americans are and yet, when something like this happens, the celeb is vilified and mocked. I can think of lots of worse things Fred Willard could have done....and many of them probably wouldn't have gotten him fired.

According to TMZ, Octomom is now off welfare, thanks to the money she's making as a stripper. Octomom -- I Stripped My Way Off Welfare | TMZ.com

Stripping isn't anything I would do, but then I also wouldn't have 14 children. I applaud her for finally coming to her senses and doing what she needs to do to take care of her children. It's not their fault she is selfish enough to bring that many children into the world with no way to support them. I thought the people sending her death threats over being on welfare were out of bounds. Although I certainly didn't think she should be thrown out on the street (or, more to the point, that her children should), I still didn't think it was right to be on welfare unless she'd done everything she could do to NOT be on welfare.

ETA: TMZ is also reporting that Ann Curry has been tapped to travel to Colorado and co-anchor the weekend version of Today. The other anchor? Savannah Guthrie, the woman who replaced her. TPTB at NBC clearly have no sense of human feelings or emotions. According to the article, Ann is going....probably because she's a professional (and, you know, has a contract), but jeez, what insensitive clods to even think about making her do this.

Its kind of sad that the only way Octomom can earn a living is by taking off her clothes... then again, its kind of sad she has 14 children. I do predict when the novelty of her stripping wears off and she isn't a huge draw, she'll do more porn. I think the doctor who was unethical enough to do this to her should support those kids!

    Re: Miscellaneous Celebrity News

Turns out, Fred Willard may not have broken any laws after all:
Fred Willard Masturbation Law Won't Stick

Alleged weenie wacker Fred Willard may NOT have broken the lewd conduct law ... even if he DID masturbate in an adult movie theater.

Here's the long and short of it -- In California, it's not automatically illegal to masturbate in a public place like a movie theater ... it's ONLY illegal if the act occurs within eye-shot of people who "might be offended." That's the law, folks.

So how does Willard beat the rap? Allow us to make the argument.

Willard's alleged act occurred in a XXX theater, notorious for showing hardcore porno films to patrons who show up to get off.

There were 4 other movie-goers in the house when cops busted Willard -- 4 patrons in a dark, dank theater doing God knows what. It's a safe bet they weren't particularly offended. And if they say they were, good luck to them on cross examination.

So Willard had NO REASON to believe anyone there would get their nose out of joint by a little self knob-polishing ... therefore, the lewd conduct law doesn't apply to him. NOT GUILTY.

Willard's attorney, Paul Takakjian, has already gone on record, saying the 78-year-old actor "did nothing in any violation of any law" ... and he may be right.
