She probably asked her mom.
Although her mom joked about having another kid so she could name it Zamboni. So I guess Tripp is better than Zamboni.

On another note, I actually know someone named Trip. He only uses one "P" in his name though and he's in his 30's.

Tripp Darling is the patriarch on the Dirty Sexy Money show (played by Donald Sutherland), and I've known someone named Tripp before (although I think it was not his actual name, but he used it professionally), so it is certainly better than Zamboni or Headda Lettuce or whatever else those Palins could have picked.

I must confess, Hedda Lettuce is not my invention. Watchers of Project Runway may recall last season there was a challenge where the designers had to design outfits for drag queens, and Hedda Lettuce was one of the queens, and the name cracked me up.
