LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - David Duchovny, who recently sought treatment for sex addiction, has separated from Tea Leoni, his wife of 11 years and mother of their two children, People magazine reported on Wednesday.

The former "X-Files" star and Leoni, an actress, separated some time ago.

"In light of continuous speculation over the lives and marriage of Tea Leoni and David Duchovny, the couple has confirmed that they have in fact been separated for several months," said a statement released by their publicists.

"The couple had hoped to keep this separation private for the sake of their children."

Duchovny, who plays a womanizing novelist on the U.S. television series "Californication," has left a rehabilitation center for sex addiction after successfully completing a program, his attorney said last week.

Duchovny and Leoni, currently starring in the comedy "Ghost Town," married in May 1997 and have a 9-year-old daughter and a 6-year-old son. It was a second marriage for Leoni and a first for Duchovny.

In January, Duchovny won a Golden Globe Award as best actor in a comedy for his role as Hank Moody, an oversexed single dad and novelist struggling with writer's block in "Californication."

He is expected to start work soon on a new movie called "The Joneses."

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Ryan O'Neal and his son, Redmond, were formally charged on Thursday with possession of methamphetamine and other drug offenses stemming from a search of their home last month.

The 67-year-old actor and his son, 23, were arrested together on September 17 after police conducted a sweep of their Malibu home under the terms of Redmond O'Neal's probation for an earlier drug possession case.

Police found methamphetamine in the father's bedroom as well as in his son's possession, said Jane Robison, a spokeswoman for the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office.

Both men were charged with felony possession of methamphetamine, and the son was additionally charged with lesser counts of possessing drug paraphernalia and illegal possession of pepper spray.

Felony drug possession carries a possible maximum sentence of three years in prison, but neither man is likely do any time behind bars if convicted.

Because the elder O'Neal, an Oscar nominee for his 1970 role in "Love Story," has no previous record, he would probably be placed in a drug rehabilitation program, Robison said. His son, too, would likely see his court-ordered rehab extended.

Redmond O'Neal, the son of actress Farrah Fawcett, pleaded guilty in June to possessing heroin and methamphetamine and driving under the influence, and was placed on three years' probation. In a court appearance on October 8, he admitted to a relapse and was ordered to undergo two weeks of treatment.

Both men are due in court on November 13 to enter pleas in connection with the latest case. Ryan O'Neal's agent was not immediately available for comment.

Ryan O'Neal first came to fame on the 1960s prime-time soap opera "Peyton Place" and more recently has appeared in the Fox network drama "Bones."

Daughter Tatum O'Neal, 44, a former child actress who won an Oscar for her role opposite her father in the 1973 film "Paper Moon," pleaded guilty in July to disorderly conduct stemming from a drug arrest.

and they're saying her 7 year old nephew is missing.

It's ridiculously tragic. Even more so since everything I've read has indicated that it's a domestic situation. It's horribly sad.

It worries me to no end that they haven't found her nephew yet. Initially when I heard that her mom and brother were murdered and the child was taken I assumed that the fugitive ex husband of her sister was the father of the child and had taken him not in order to harm him, but to go into hiding with him. Now, after learning that he was a stepfather with a gripe with the family, I'm hoping and praying that he is found okay, and that he is found soon.

Sounds like they have probably found him, shot to death in the car that they were looking for. Plates match the car they were looking for, and there was a child's body inside. My heart is hurting.

This is such a tragic story. My heart goes out to Jennifer and especially her sister. To lose your mother and brother is horrible, but to lose her son too, and the fact that it might be her estranged husband who is responsible... it must be all but unbearable for the poor woman.
