Then they flew back to LA so that Katie could give birth. And then the faux pregnancy began with the pillows under the shirts while Katie shopped for shoes... I heard that tommy's cult is totally against gambling (they would rather you give THEM the money vs a slot machine) and since James makes his money from casino's it is a conflict and he picked his business over the cult.

James Garner, who was hospitalized late last week after suffering a minor stroke, is doing well and should be going home shortly, the veteran television and film star's publicist said Tuesday.

The star of such TV shows as "Maverick" and "The Rockford Files" went to the hospital after becoming ill at home Friday, said his publicist, Jennifer Allen.

"He's still in the hospital but my understanding is he is doing well and will be going home soon. When, exactly, we have not been told yet," Allen told The Associated Press.

Garner, who turned 80 last month, rose to prominence in the 1950s as the star of "Maverick," playing a wry riverboat gambler who was quicker with a quip than a gun and, unlike his Western counterparts, was faster still to run from trouble than to face it. The show aired from 1957 to 1962 but Garner, who was nominated for an Emmy as Bret Maverick, left in 1960 to pursue a film career.

He has appeared in such films as "The Children's Hour," "Victor/Victoria," "The Great Escape" and was nominated for an Oscar in 1985 as the small-town pharmacist opposite Sally Field in "Murphy's Romance."

Garner returned to television full-time in the mid-1970s, playing Jim Rockford, a modern-day private detective who, like his "Maverick" character, also was not afraid to run instead of fight. He won an Emmy for the role in 1977.

Garner also reprised his Maverick role in the short-lived "Bret Maverick" series in the 1980s.

More recently, he played Katey Sagal's father in the sitcom "8 Simple Rules ... For Dating My Teenage Daughter." Garner joined the cast in 2003 after John Ritter, who played Sagal's husband, died during the show's second season.

Anyone remember "Maverick" the movie co-starring Jodie Foster and Mel Gibson? James Garner had a great role in it, and I laughed through the entire thing! My family loves that movie!!

More interesting than the shotgun wedding itself, is that Poppa Joe has convinced Tony Romo to attend with Jessica Simpson even though he dumped her earlier in the week. Very intriguing. I read that it was for Jess to save face - but it doesn't really work that well when the world knows your father had to beg for you to have a date. She will never have a successful relationship unless/until she cuts the cord that attaches her to her creepy father.

For those that are interested, there is a video on x17online.com of Jess and Tony meeting up for lunch on Friday. Very awkward...

Hmm, their wedding is totally getting down played then because I haven't heard anything and I definitely visit gossip sites. I've heard she's pregnant too, but I don't know for sure. I think it's pretty pathetic if it's true about creepy Papa Joe begging Tony to come. They actually made a cute couple but he messed it up for Jessica as per usual.

Of course creepy Joe had to dust off his minister's collar and marry them himself.. He doesn't seem tp insinuate himself into Ashlee's life to the extent he did with Jessica so maybe these two stand a chance.
