For other celebs who want to check in just for the PR value and to have a little private vacation away from the paparrazi, it looks great. They know they can check in and basically get a free ride and catch up on sleep and whatever for a time. A good example is Promises Rehab Center in Malibu. When Britney and Lindsay Lohan used Promises as a resort and came and went at their convenience (videos even showed Lindsay leaving in the evening and going out to a nightclub, then returning the next day after her all-night party), then suddenly Promises became the hot place for celebs to check in. Promises got more business than ever, and even showed up on lengthy tv segments with nationally respected news and investigative organizations. Britney and Lindsay's continued partying and drinking and drugging after they left Promises only served to make it more well known as the Rehab To The Stars, and as their director said in one of his tv interviews, they then received a great deal of applications to the center from non-celebs who wanted to be where they might have a Hollywood star in their group at the center, and from "well known persons who felt we would be able to deal with the unique needs of someone in the entertainment industry". (Of course, as Britney and Lindsay both said, neither attended group sessions) But post-Britney/Lindsay Promises was getting so much new business the director said they were making plans to open their 3rd facility in the area.

Sadly, this is one of those situations where there's no such thing as bad publicity.

The funny thing is you'd TEND to think that this kind of exposure would ruin these places, not bolster their business.

The only reason it doesn't is because Hollywood operates on a different plane from the rest of the country. And these places don't depend on general public opinion, just "local" opinion. Well maybe not "local" per se, but from a specialized group. I mean there are several of these fancy rehabs in out of the way locations that get softpeddled too. It doesn't matter that people seriously looking for solutions won't be sent there anymore, as long as the dumb, rich and famous go.

Re: Miscellaneous Celebrity News

I get MY best Entertainment News from Best Week Ever! (okay, substitute "least relevant but funniest" for "best")

Best Week Ever » Blog Archive » CAPTION THIS: There’s No “E” In Paris, Except Maybe In This Pic

Wait. Following links back, here's the original source:

Paris Gets In Touch with Herself | INF Daily

Even more funny pictures there. Paris singing! And getting the "Woman of the Year" award from the Harvard University Lampoon (I wonder if she understands the real significance of that?)

The fourth pic down on the full story at that second link is especially funny. Paris in the foreground, curled up sexily on a couch, with some weird looking dude with a camera right over her shoulder.

Well, since Pat O'Brien couldn't get pregnant I guess he he took the second option.

'Insider' host Pat O'Brien checks into rehab, Mindy McCready rumors about a reality show

I won't be bumping into 'Insider' host Pat O'Brien at any Grammy events because the show just announced that he's been admitted to rehab.

You might recall that he had earlier problems with substance abuse. I can't recall the details, but a suggestive telephone call he made to a woman was recorded and publicly released. It was horribly embarrassing for him.

I just received an email from an industry insider who says she's heard that Mindy McCready is doing a reality show and making an album. I'll report more details as I hear them.

What a beautiful way to celebrate his life!

What started out as a subdued wake after Heath Ledger's funeral ended in an emotional goodbye by mourners including Michelle Williams, who all took a plunge into the ocean as the sun began to set.

"It's exactly what Heath would have wanted," one mourner told PEOPLE, dripping wet in his underwear as he made his way out of the water.

An unidentified man led Williams by the hand, followed by several guests, who walked down the stairs behind the Indiana Tea House on Cottesloe Beach, the site of the wake and one of Ledger's favorite spots.

At least 50 people attending the wake ran onto the beach and many began to take off their clothes. While some women took the plunge in their black dresses, other men and women stripped down to just their underwear and jumped into the ocean.

Williams, still wearing her cream-colored sundress and black sunglasses, was briefly dragged into the water as everyone cheered. She was then quickly surrounded by a group of mourners, creating a protective circle around the actress.

Those in the water laughed and cheered as Michelle watched from the shore. Ledger's sister Kate also took a dive into the water and was surrounded by pals splashing around her while her father Kim Ledger watched from the restaurant's balcony and shouted, "Hip hip hooray! Hip hip hooray!" giving two thumbs up in the air.

As the sun began to set, the swimmers came on shore and stood in a line on both sides of Williams and linked arms. In the last five minutes, as the sun moved toward the horizon, the mourners stood in silence, watching and embracing.

Williams hugged Kate Ledger and smiled as she watched the sunset at 8:15 p.m., local time.

Two mourners in the group summoned up the moment as they stood behind Williams.

"The sun goes down on our love," they said. "But it will never go down on Heathy."

Williams left the wake with Ledger's mother Sally Ledger Bell and her husband Roger Bell at 9:20 p.m., local time. Ledger Bell held on to Michelle as they got into a black SUV. Once inside, Sally rested her head on Williams' shoulder as the car drove away.

Heath Ledger's remains were cremated Saturday afternoon, local time, PEOPLE has confirmed.

Following a memorial at Penrhos College for hundreds of mourners, Michelle Williams, escorted by police, arrived with a small entourage of Ledger's closest family for a more intimate service at Fremantle Cemetery, just outside Perth, Australia. The chapel at Fremantle, which was blacked out with sheets and scaffolding, has only eight wooden pews and a lectern.

There, Williams read William Shakespeare’s Sonnet 18 (“Shall I compare thee to a summer’s day?”).

"It was a very emotional service,” a source tells PEOPLE.

Less than an hour after arriving, the mourners were spotted putting their arms around a clearly distressed Williams and hugging the chaplain in gratitude as they departed.

From there, they headed to the Indiana Tea House on Cottesloe Beach, where attendees from the earlier memorial could be seen smoking and drinking beer and red and white wine on the patio of the establishment, which has a spectacular view of the ocean. Williams was visibly shaken and looked like she had just been crying when she entered the restaurant.

Re: Miscellaneous Celebrity News

That is indeed very beautiful. I wish though it would stay just as that. A beautiful moment. Not a moment that will be continually butchered by the once respected ET (The Larry/Danielynn/Anna saga, anyone).

Re: Miscellaneous Celebrity News

Just to poke my inner cynic out for a moment, I have to wonder if there was any sign of an Olsen twin anywhere around.

Putting the cynic away, I think its obvious that Heath's family never put even a moment of blame on Michelle Williams for the breakup, and they obviously intend to continue with the attitude that she's permanent family. That's what's best for the kid anyway, but even knowing that people can't always do it.

They seem like genuinely good people who this has to have hit pretty hard. Some might criticize how public their reactions have been, but I don't think there was any helping that anyway--it would have been "stolen" by paparazzi and snoopish reporters if they hadn't been forthcoming themselves with their reactions.

That cycle of events cemented by complete and total hatred for Entertainment Tonight. The whole way they slimed up to HKS and made themselves partners in that travesty, with alternate simpering reports and yet also simultaneously an inherent lack of respect even when they droned on about "Howard's touching goodbyes" or "Dani-Lynn's brave struggle" or whatever other nonsense each day's "story" from them held. Mark Steines probably bought a one-way ticket to hell, or at least the journalistic equivalent, during that whole thing.

Re: Miscellaneous Celebrity News

See, Krom, I was starting to think that ET really is Hell. I'm not sure he's had to go far to with that one-way ticket. A lot of the "entertainment journalism" is ridiculous now. I remember when it used to be facts only and without facts, it wasn't even considered. Now with all the electronic media hyping up everything, the tv shows feel the need to play along. About the only "entertainment" news person I can stand anymore is Joel McHale.
