Re: Miscellaneous Celebrity News Jamie Lee Curtis blasts Paris Hilton's mother and others... Add another voice to the chorus weighing in on Paris Hilton's latest travails: Jamie Lee Curtis. In an essay on The Huffington Post titled "Mom, It's Not Right!" (which refers to Hilton's outburst as she was ordered back to jail last week) the 48-year-old actress slams the lack of parental guidance given to Hilton and others of her generation. "It was a painful episode to watch," Curtis writes. "A young woman, begging her mother, the person who should have taught her right from wrong, to help her, to teach her the rules of life. It was a little too late. And so she wept as the Universe was bringing the teaching and settling the score." Curtis, who has a daughter, Annie, 20, and a son, Thomas, 11, with husband Christopher Guest, is no stranger to being young in Hollywood: The daughter of actors Tony Curtis and Janet Leigh, she made her film debut in 1978's Halloween at age 20. (She's also Jake Gyllenhaal's godmother.) But she says today's celebs are lacking guidance: "The sad paths of the three most popular young women" – Hilton and, presumably, Lindsay Lohan and Britney Spears – "have ended in prison, rehab and mental illness. I hope their mothers are worried sick and wondering, 'What could I have done differently?' And our culture should be asking the same question too." Parents her age, she says, are more concerned with being friends with their kids than teaching them important lessons. "We were the generation who applauded every move they made. Every step they took. 'Good climbing, Brandon' was our hue and cry. We were raised by people who didn't 'understand' us and now we don't 'understand' why our children are so messed up." She concludes: "Can we take the wrenching sight of Paris asking her mother, 'why?' and ask it of ourselves? ... Wake up, Mothers, and smell the denial."

Re: Miscellaneous Celebrity News Wow Broadway....thanks for posting that. Jamie Lee Curtis is onto something there. I don't want to be friends with my children. I don't want to listen to rap music and wear my pants around my knees... I hope the friendship comes later...when my boys are adults with wives and children of their own. Right now...they need authority. They need guidance. Something I think a lot of parents forget. They want their children to like them. I want my kids to have a healthy fear of me...lol. Not where they crouch and cover their heads when I get near, but if they do something wrong..they'll know there will be not-so-fun consequences. I also want them to know when they do something right..they will receive praise. I also refuse to pay their insurance on their car. They want to drive...they can get a job and pay for that privilage. We could afford it, but I want them to learn the value of a dollar. I want them to learn to be self-sufficient. Maybe my approach is all wrong, but it's working with boys.

Re: Miscellaneous Celebrity News The latest from Paris: MSN - News - Hilton Says She'll No Longer `Act Dumb' Hilton Says She'll No Longer `Act Dumb' Jun 11, 9:08 AM EST The Associated Press LOS ANGELES -- Paris Hilton says she will no longer "act dumb." The reality TV star and relentless publicity-seeker spoke with Barbara Walters by phone Sunday, a day after releasing a statement saying she hoped the media would focus on "more important things" than her 45-day jail sentence, according to ABC News' Web site. "I used to act dumb. ... That act is no longer cute," ABC quoted Hilton as saying. After spending three days in jail in a reckless driving case, Hilton was briefly released to home confinement Thursday for an undisclosed medical condition. An outraged judge sent her back to jail Friday. She is now housed in the medical ward of a maximum-security detention center. According to ABC News, the call came after Hilton's mother, Kathy, phoned Walters. During the conversation, the 26-year-old socialite called her mom on another line, found out her mother was talking to Walters, and then called Walters collect. All jail inmates are required to call collect. Hilton has been saying that she is changed by her jailhouse experience, and she repeated that theme with Walters: "Now, I would like to make a difference. ... God has given me this new chance." In order for me to believe this, she would have to show that she actually has enough intelligence to "act dumb".

Re: Miscellaneous Celebrity News I saw blurbs of her performance in "House of Wax", Blues... that girl ain't no actress. ![]() Have to admire her persistence, however. She kept up the dumb act all of the way through getting thrown in jail for a SECOND time. A lesser person would have dropped it maybe at the time of the DUI, or the second traffic violation, or the third. A slightly challenged individual might have given it up at her first court date. But not Paris... she kept up the act all through her second escort to the slammer. ![]() Maybe the psychotropic drugs that she has been getting since Saturday are a better grade than those she had been taking? ![]()

| Re: Miscellaneous Celebrity News I recorded Herbie Fully Loaded for my kids this weekend. I had no idea LaLohan was in it until we sat down to watch it. I almost wanted to turn it off, just because I tend to keep some of the more notorious calebrities off of my kids' radar. It was really sad to watch. I can't imagine trying to get through the Parent Trap, when she was still young and sweet.
