I don't buy sex addict with Dean. I think he's just a man who doesn't have enough respect for women he marries to stay faithful to them. While I am sympathetic for Tori because it's not only humiliating to have a husband who cheats, but even more so to have it be so public, he told her who he was when he cheated on his first wife with her. And truthfully, Toril told him that she thought adultery was okay in marriage, since she was cheating on her husband to be with him. Who knows - maybe for both of them it is okay. Maybe they've had an understanding that going outside their marriage is fine, and if they have, to each their own. But if they did not, hopefully Tori will approach men in the future with more realistic expectations -- if they are willing to cheat WITH her, they're likely willing to cheat ON her.

I also don't buy this sex addict thing. It seems to be the go to copout for men who get caught. They're not addicts, they're just selfish self centered men who don't have respect for women, especially their own wife.

I've known women who were the one a married man cheated with, then they married him, then he did the same with someone else, or sometimes multiple someone elses. They are completely shocked & surprised. One even said to me: "but, he even left his wife for me." I felt like saying "BINGO!" What on earth do they expect?
I agree with AcookerTV with her statement "if they are willing to cheat WITH her, they're likely willing to cheat ON her."

Women, take a good hard look at the man you're planning to marry. His behavior won't get better after you're married.
Even the best guys regress in their behavior somewhat. If the big red flags are already there before you're married, RUN! You've got a problem on your hands.

Sex addict therapy is only their way of temporarily taking the heat off getting caught. They're just trying to get off the hook. Then it's back to the same.

They run into rehab for this, do we ever hear the outcome? has someone said well that's cured me of sleeping around..
Michael Douglas went into rehab, now he and his wife are separated..I bet you - once he was out(pardon the pun) he went right back to his same old ways

I think that with the rare exception of someone like Robert Downey Jr who has a problem and fixes it, "rehab" is Hollywood speak for "I got caught doing something I've always done but you never knew about. Now that you know about it, I have to acknowledge it's wrong even though I don't think it is. So I'm going on vacation for a bit while you forget I did this so I can go back to living the life I always have". They are not rehabilitating their behavior. They are trying to rehabilitate their image.

I think rehab for drug addition works, if ( and only if) you stay longer than say Lohan stays each time.

I was on the fence on this one. I just found this article that says it's probably not a real addiction. It hasn't been recognized as a disorder by the National Psychiatric Association nor is it listed in the DSM-5

Sex addiction "not a real disorder" - Medical News Today

Still, even if it's people who are highly sexed, it's ruining their and their family's lives. You need treatment for that kind of thing, right? What about just going on meds to lower your sex drive? I wonder if they have tried that.

Don't get me wrong Fanny Mare - I absolutely believe that rehab works and has changed many lives. I know some people who have benefitted tremendously from it. I'm not talking about rehab in general. I'm talking about the rehab that celebrities go to after they've gotten in trouble for various things.

I wonder if they learnt how to stay faithful, or how about the word no. No I am married. I never hear of single guys having a sex addiction

I agree, now when I hear it, I take no notice of the word, or what that person is doing.

Of course they haven't tried that. They don't want to. They like what they're doing & have every intention of continuing, just not getting caught.
I can't imagine any man taking meds to lower their sex drive. Why do you think Viagra & others like it are so popular?

As to Robert Downey Jr., he went to rehab, therapy, jail, & everything the legal system could throw at him, multiple times before it finally stuck. It wasn't an easy road for him at all. I think he finally got a lot of people behind him supporting him & watching him. He's a very talented man. I'm glad it finally worked for him.
