Britney Spears Crotch Shots Can't Stop 'Most Elegant' Awards List

Britney Spears has been berated by the fashion police for her less than stellar outfits worn throughout 2006. While she was pregnant her choices left many scratching their heads, but she was give some leeway. But once she had her baby, she went on what many deemed a fashion disaster tour that left her in see-through shirts with her breasts exposed and a crotch shots tour that is still being lampooned on a daily basis.

She was dubbed worst dressed by Us Weekly magazine and was the easy winner for Mr. Blackwell for his annual award for the biggest fashion mess in the world of celebrity.

But in a shocking turn, Britney actually received a top two finish. That loud thud you hear is my jaw dropping to the floor and I'm a Britney fan. The former pop princess beat out loads of very elegant women only finishing behind the elegant and gracious Princess Mary.

While we search for a hanging chad or two here is how Hello magazine describes her award. Pop princess Britney has never been a slave to fashion trends, opting instead to follow her own choices - something hellomagazine.com readers clearly admire. The blonde mum-of-two earned plaudits for her stylish appearance at the 2006 American Music Awards, when she took to the stage to present one of the trophies in a figure-hugging caramel-colored dress (pictured).

Uh - okay. I'm still not clear how to respond so congrats Brit. Third spot on the list went to Australian beauty Cate Blanchett, who won approval for her sophisticated sense of style, reports Hello magazine.

The top five was rounded of by singer Natalie Imbruglia and Queen Rania of Jordan, who came in fourth and fifth place respectively.

The list for the top ten 'Most Elegant Women of 2006', as per Hello! is:

You do realize that Hello! Magazine is a trashy celeb gossip rag, about equal in prestige to the National Enquirer (in other words, not very, but SLIGHTLY better than let's say... the Weekly World News), and famous mostly for fawning interviews of minor members of European royalty, celebrity weddings, and general crappiness overall?

In other words, Hello! judging elegance is like Britney judging er... birth control. Inherently flawed and badly considered.

Umm how the heck was she voted one of the most elegant? I'm not sure what exactly about her trashy style is elegant. That's pretty bad voting! I'll never let any child I have emulate her style.
