I dunno. While a lot of people seemed happy that the L.A. courts took things out of Britney's hands, remember that they took like... forever to do so in the first place. They STILL can't keep Britney in treatment, and it doesn't seem like they even entertained the idea of appointing an independent conservator who's got no baggage (and hopefully enough money of their own that they wouldn't have to steal from Britney).

Maybe a change wouldn't be that horrible. Except that it really IS dangerous sometimes to let the Federal government go near anything.

Bryan Spears wants to know exactly what he's gotten himself into.

Britney Spear's 30-year-old brother and Ivan Taback, the attorney sharing cotrustee duties of Britney's SJB account, have filed a motion seeking to confirm that her living trust also owns the majority of the 26-year-old's various companies.

Taback helped Britney establish her trust in 2004, appointing her as the sole trustee, but in light of the pop star's recent hospitalization and loss of control of her estimated $100 million fortune to a conservatorship, a court commissioner named the lawyer and Bryan cotrustees.

A hearing is scheduled for Apr. 17. If Los Angeles Supreme Court Commissioner Reva Goetz approves their request, the SJB trust will be the confirmed owner of, among other Brit-centric companies, Britney Brands Inc., Britney Films Ltd., Britney Online Inc., Britney Television LLC and Fairy Zone Productions. (Britney Touring Inc., however, has already been turned over to father Jamie Spears as part of his responsibilities as coconservator, duties he shares with attorney Andrew Wallet.)

The trust already holds most of her financial assets, including hefty bank and brokerage accounts, but her interest in her companies was not automatically transferred, according to court documents filed Monday.

Bryan and Taback also state that some of said companies need immediate attending to, whether because they're conducting ongoing business, owe taxes or are parties to litigation, and ownership needs to be established.

Taback claims that he and his fellow trustee are well within their rights to petition for the transfer.

In 2004, "Britney confirmed to me her desire that all of her material financial assets, including…her right title and interest in and to all legal entities which she then owned, be transferred and vested in the trust," the attorney stated in a declaration included with Monday's filing.

Meanwhile, Jamie Spears' temporary conservatorship has been extended until at least July 31. He has been granted a $2,500 weekly allowance from his daughter's estate, plus a car allowance, while Britney gets $1,500 a week for "walking around" money, which does not have to be used for legal fees or other major bills.

Mom-to-be Jamie Lynn Spears is sporting some sparkling new jewelry – an engagement ring from fiancé Casey Aldridge.

Spears, 16, has been flashing the rock to friends and family around Louisiana and Mississippi, a source close to the family tells PEOPLE.

"She's got an engagement ring," the source says. "She's been showing it off, talking about it."

Spears and her 18-year-old fiancé are expecting the baby this summer. No official word yet on a wedding date for the couple.

Re: last night's How I Met Your Mother. My husband and I watch the show all the time (we've got a Season Pass on our TiVo). I thought BS last night was okay in her role -- overall we just didn't think the episode was one of the best, but that has more to do with the writing and not BS.

Since he's a Community College dropout, who works as a pipe fitter (whatever that is--I'm guessing it doesn't pay "Zoey 101" type money), I'm thinking that its likely that Lynn Spears actually bought it (using some of Britney's moolah), and gave it to him with "don't screw this up" instructions.


But at least Jamie herself is now a High School graduate, at 16, or at least the legal equivalent, having opted to take a GED exam and passed it.

pipe fitting is not a bad job, especially if he's union and gets decent benefits. The housing market impacting new construction might be making that field a little tougher. I bet you're right though that Jamie Lynn bought her own engagement ring because she wanted something big and shiney.

I know I'm reviving a thread that I have abhorred in the past, but I ha to comment on the fact that the way I've been seeing her lately..cleaned up, looking pretty average (not a mess/not spectacular) has actually made me think she's doing a lot better. Am I going batty?!

No, I don't think you are. She does seem to be doing better now that her "manager" is out of her life. Let's hope he stays gone so she can have a decent life instead of going insane.

I think Britney's getting her act together quite nicely. She did splendidly on How I Met Your Mother.
