The scary part to me is not that he gave her drugs, but that he did it secretly. I cannot remember the exact detail, but it doesn't appear to be in the post above, but didn't Lynne Spears indicate something about Britney also being given a sleeping pill but Sam told her that it was to help her stay awake?

The overall implication in all of these latest reports is that Sam is keeping Britney drugged to the point of not understanding reality so that he can take advantage of her and her finances and keep her away from people that can truly help her.


In another little odd connection to Howard Stern/Anna Nicole Smith... Ron Rale, Howard Stern's attorney, apparently works for Britney's law firm Trope & Trope and is starting to be used as a resource in this mess. And my opinion, for what it's worth, is that any comparison to Howard K. Stern is really just superficial in that HKS helped administer ANS' drugs.... but all indications are that it was being done with the best of intention, however misguided. With all of the knowledge about Sam Lutfi's history, the restraining orders, and now these latest allegations from Lynne Spears, Jamie Spears, Adnan Ghalib... it would appear that he does NOT have Britney's best intentions at heart. If he did, he would have gotten help for her long ago.

I think that, on a good day, Britney doesn't understand reality. I am also glad to see somebody (her dad) finally tell her, "No.", if that is, indeed, what happened.

Report: Britney Released from Psych Ward

Britney Spears has been discharged from the psych ward at UCLA Medical Center, the Los Angeles Times is reporting.

The newspaper reports that Spears left without fanfare Wednesday, but with the help of a private security detail. Her destination after release was not known, but it was reported she could be headed to one of her residences before she seeks out further treatment.

Spears was taken by ambulance to the hospital on Jan. 31 and was initially held under a 72-hour psychiatric hold. Under the treatment of her psychiatrist, Dr. Deborah Nadel, Spears's stay was extended to a 14-day hold on Sunday.

Only Dr. Nadel would've had the authority to deem the singer well enough to be released, legal experts say.

It's unclear whether the singer will continue with outpatient treatment.

Spears's dad Jamie was granted temporary control over his daughter's affairs on Friday (though it did not include control of her psychiatric treatment). His conservatorship was extended this week to Feb. 14 – following a battle in court over who's best suited to look after the troubled pop star. More court documents were released Tuesday, revealing Jamie Spears's conversations with Britney in the hospital.

The release of the 26-year-old singer also comes after Spears's mother, Lynne Spears, successfully obtained a restraining order against her daughter's self-described friend and manager Sam Lutfi.

The order forbids Lutfi from getting within 250 yards of Britney, her homes, her family's homes and the hospital where she's staying.

In her court documents, Lynne Spears, describing the chaotic scene at her daughter's house when she arrived Jan. 28 for an intervention, claimed, "Mr. Lutfi has drugged Britney. He has cut Britney's home phone line and removed her cell phone chargers. He claims to control everything."

I just heard she was released too. I was really surprised that she was allowed to leave this soon. I guess we can all get ready for the next round of "Drama"...

Yeah. It amuses me that the man who used to bill himself as "Anna's lawyer" had to get himself a real one.

Oh I got that. But remember that these implications are coming from LYNNE SPEARS. Who's no disinterested party even under the best interpretation.

I'm not saying the Spears family isn't in the right, and I'm certainly not saying Sam the Sham isn't an evil little #&^@, but I'm just cautious after the Anna Nicole situation with this all too human tendency we have to try and pick out "good guys" and "bad guys" when the reality seems to be that usually its actually a matter of "bad guys" and "even worse guys". The awareness that this is frequently the case is why I really think independent guardians sometimes need to be brought in for cases like this. While I personally think there's a certain level of sincerity to the Spears family's current actions, I think at the very least they've proven in the past that they aren't clever people. So even if they aren't "bad guys" up against "even worse guys" at the very least they may be "bad guardians" (ineffective, or having bad judgment, I mean) up against "even worse guardians".

Yeah, I agree with this in general, in this situation. When you have someone like a Britney Spears who, even though she's not very smart academically, she's proven to be very clever (not to be mistaken with smart) in manipulating the media and people in her world, as a great many people with addiction problems are. And when you add in her wealth to the mixture, that's when you get people like Adnan, Lutfi, and other types who are more than willing to go along with the craziness because there's something in it for them. And then you have family members who aren't sophisticated enough (not to be mistaken with stupid) to understand all the manipulations going on by everyone, and have no real understanding of all the mini-dramas going on, and who also have trouble believing "our little girl" wouldn't lie to them about what's really going on with her.... well, it would really be just about impossible for anyone that close to the situation and/or person to be of lasting help to Britney. It would take someone who can look at the entire situation with a cynical eye and not be swayed by familial loyalties or connections, and not be hoodwinked by a patient who's very good at manipulating and lying and creating drama.

So I think an independent guardian would probably be the best choice for Britney now. Her parents love her and would rather have someone else be 'the bad guy' that got their daughter into this mess rather than admit that she could have willingly become what she's become. And I can understand that, but that gives the parents a limited point of view. And certainly someone like Lutfi isn't fit to serve in that role because whether he really cares about her or not (and I have no idea if he does or doesn't), he also has a limited point of view because he thinks Britney's parents are the problem. Her current lawyers shouldn't be her guardians, because they too have a limited point of view and have something to be gained by her keeping them on retainer. And we all know what happens when Britney makes her own decisions on things.

And independent guardian does seem to be the smartest thing to do. But although I believe that's the way to handle her, at the same time I have my doubts about any independent guardian appointed by the state of California, because I just don't have any faith in their system when it comes to dealing with the wealthy and celebs. So the best thing would seem to be to send her somewhere outside of California and have a guardian appointed elsewhere. Where? I don't really know, but it seems like anywhere but California would be a good start... send her back to Louisiana for it, if needed. Just don't do it in California.

And it didn't take her long to get back to her true loves -- the paps. There's already video and still pics on tv and the internet of her having left her house about an hour after she was released, driving to her usual hangouts in her new Mercedes with "an unidentified male' in the car with her (she was the one driving). At one point she stopped in the street where all the paps were and jumped out of the driver's seat and switched places with the guy in the car with her. Before switching places with her passenger, she was driving down the street with her window rolled partway down and snapping pictures of the paps as she drove.


She drove around about an hour and finally ended up at the Beverly Hills Hotel, where Adnan has just been photographed arriving and going inside.

On a funny note when Brit arrived at the Beverly Hills Hotel, she got out of her car and went inside with her pap-posse and ran right smack into Maria Shriver. Poor Maria, lol.

And so Britney picks up where she left off....

Oh, an update on the Adnan/Britney/Bev Hills Hotel story.... TMZ and Fox now are reporting that Britney and Adnan have just left the hotel together, with him driving and her ducking down in the seat of his car.

Adnan Ghalib drove Britney Spears out of the Beverly Hills hotel just minutes ago. She was ducked down in the passenger seat of his silver Mercedes.

Fresh from a quick jaunt to the Beverly Hills Hotel, Britney and Adnan drove to the L.A. offices of lawyer Adam Streisand.

When TMZ called Streisand's office, we were directed to the marketing department. Huh?

Streisand went to court earlier this week to have Jamie and Andrew Wallet removed as her conservators, but was shut down when he couldn't prove he had been retained by Britney.

Britney Spears' parents said the pop star's life was in danger after she was discharged from hospital against the recommendation of her psychiatrist.

In a joint statement, Jamie and Lynne Spears said they were "extremely disappointed" to learn their troubled daughter had been released.

"We are deeply concerned about our daughter's safety and vulnerability and we believe her life is presently at risk," the statement said.

"We ask only that the court's orders be enforced so that a tragedy may be averted," they added.

After her earlier-than-expected release from a week in the psychiatric ward, Spears spent the day dodging paparazzi as she drove around Los Angeles in a black Mercedes-Benz with an unidentified man.
