Yeah, at this point I've come to the conclusion that she really doesn't care about the kids anymore than she would any other 'possession' or pet. I might have given her the benefit of the doubt a year ago, but not any longer. There are women who just lack a maternal instinct, for various reasons, and she appears to be such a woman. I'm sure she really felt she wanted kids at the time, but after they were born, she basically has never treated them as anything but pets. And she's put no heart and very very little effort into the custody matter -- the little effort she's made appears to be only what her attorneys du jour could convince her to do. All indications are that the kids interfere with her social life, and she's content to let others take responsibility for them. That mess last Thursday nite was Britney under the influence of something, as noted by the police, and not wanting to share her toys -- aka her kids -- with people who were telling her she had to. As she's said many many times, she doesn't like to be told what to do.

The maternal instinct is just not there, nor is any inkling of a maternal bond or responsibility.

I really don't want to read about her drowning the kids in a bathtub so I hope she has lost all custody rights until she receives professional help. If only everyday women who show warning signs of snapping but nobody thinks it's anything to worry about would get as much attention as Britney has had concerning her own children. In her case she's a blatant red flag and a tragedy waiting to happen so if she is allowed any time with those kids, in her own home surrounded by "yes" people, and something happens to the children, I will blame the courts. She is not fit at this point and may not be for a long time.

I agree. I suffer from depression, not horrible, but it's there. There are days I don't want to get out of bed or work or talk to anyone but I know my son is depending on me so I pull my head up and attempt to get it all done. This is just sad at this point and no longer any kind of entertainment because these kids are involved.

What I find very hard to believe, and cannot imagine the judge is going to buy it, is that she didn't go into the court due to the paparazzi.

As evidenced by her actions this weekend... she has absolutely NO problem getting out of her car and winding her way through the paparazzi when it means going shopping, or going into a gas station for her latest bathroom fix, or running into Starbucks. How could the court condone another "I had an anxiety attack due to the paparrazi" excuse (if that is given, which I am sure it will be)???

Britney Spears was a wreck after trying to get out of her SUV at the L.A. County Courthouse. She bailed and is headed home.

As she got out of the car, she screamed at photogs, "Move back. I'm scared. Stop it. Stop it. I want to get back in the car. Just stop it. Let me get in the car, please."

But the plot thickens. A law enforcement source tells TMZ she may be coming back to the courthouse at 3:30 PM PT. We have not confirmed this, but if it's true, we will go live with streaming video. Promise!

UPDATE: It's 2:00 PM PT and Britney is eating lunch at the Gaucho Grill on Ventura Blvd. A girl gets hungry!

I too find it difficult to believe she's that scared. I understand it is scary having all those people around you flashing bulbs, etc. but why is she scared (as Broadway has pointed out) one day and that evening smiling and going out?

I totally agree, Broadway. Her 'fear' of paparazzi only rears it's head when she wants to get out of court sessions, and she's not fooling anyone when she tries to use that card only at those times.

Sounds like she's taking lessons from the Michael Jackson School of How To Attempt to Elicit Sympathy From The Court when you want to avoid testifying. Next hearing, I wouldn't be surprised to see her show up in pajama bottoms.

Anyone got a poll started yet as to what time we first get reports of her out partying tonight?

i agree completely ... she has pretty much proven she doesn't care about those kids.

Brit to Lawyers -- I'm Just Not Into It

TMZ has learned that when Britney first arrived at the courthouse and went into an underground tunnel, she was met by two of her lawyers -- Anne Kiley and Tara Scott. We're told they actually got into the Escalade to speak with her. That's when Brit said she just didn't want to testify.

That would also explain why she didn't go inside the courthouse from the tunnel. Once she drove away, she came back -- and at one point got out of the SUV -- but then got back in and drove off.

There's a buzz she may be back later today. Nevertheless, it looks like the hearing will go well into tomorrow, and she still has time to show up and testify.
