Britney Spears Just Won't Go Away

I totally agree about Brittany being mentally ill. I also think the media,if they wanted to they could agree to not show her on tv. The constant and nightly airing of her business by Showbiz tonite and others is not helping. While they tape her and giggle over it all the women is on her way to her death with them jerking the chain.

Apparently airing celebrities and their self destruction is a new sporting event. If the media stopped showing Brittany on tv the woman would now be opem to get help for issues without having it televised and it just may save her life.

I agree. I think she has her family tree to blame for her mental problems, probably going back since before her mother and father.

As far as the media contributing to her mental status, I think the media is, moreso, contributing to their bank accounts. I don't think my conscience would let me do their job, but I can't be mad at them for not having my conscience. She is big money to them, and I don't think they have a responsibility to look out for her best interest if she doesn't.

I think Scientology ought to kidnap her, and treat her to one of their special interventions! I've wondered why they haven't had any comments on her antics, like they had with Brooke Shields. Why do they meddle with some people and not others? Come on, Tom Cruise! Where are you now that somebody could obviously use your opinion/help? j/k.

I highly doubt that Britney would be open to help just because the media suddenly stopped showing her constantly. Part of her problem is her constant need for media attention to the point where she calls them to let them know where she'll be, gives her bodyguards orders to let them close enough to video/photo her, etc. In fact, every time the media seems to slow down on their coverage of her, she does something drastic to get herself back into media headlines. Airing celebrity self-destruction in the media is as old as Hollywood itself, it's nothing new. Clara Bow was the Britney Spears of her day as the media chronicled her many many affairs with men, women, drugs, and alcohol. The media may be jerking some celeb chains such as Britney's, but on the other end of that chain, Britney is jerking just as hard, if not harder. Her obsessive need to be photographed and videotaped every day could very well be the only thing that's driving her to stay alive at the moment.

Britney 'Strongly Advised' by Lawyers to Attend Hearing

Britney Spears has been "strongly advised" by her legal team to attend a custody hearing Monday, a reliable source tells PEOPLE.

"Absolutely she's been advised to show," the source says. "Her attendance is important."

The hearing is expected to focus on the four-hour standoff at her Studio City home on Jan. 3. Police, firefighters and paramedics will testify in a Los Angeles courtroom as to what occurred that night, which ended with Spears's forced hospitalization.

Spears, 26, and ex-husband Kevin Federline, 29, are not required to show, but, "Britney needs to be there because it's much easier to defend your client if he/she is present to refute what witnesses say," says L.A. family lawyer Scott Weston, who's not involved with the case.

"Whether she takes the stand or not depends on what witnesses say, and whether or not her lawyers think her testimony may backfire," Weston adds. "But they've got nowhere to go but up at this point. Also, if she doesn't attend, it shows a lack of interest on her part in getting back her kids."

Federline currently has sole legal and physical custody of their children, Preston, 2, and Jayden, 1. The pop star was stripped of all visitation rights following her hospitalization.

Also at issue Monday is whether the court would extend its ban on Spears's visitation. Federline's lawyer, Mark Vincent Kaplan, told PEOPLE that it's possible Spears might not see her children until April, when the ex-couple's custody trial begins. (Federline has requested primary physical custody.)

Kaplan told the Associated Press that he didn't know if Spears would appear at the hearing, but that if she does, she would be expected to testify.

"She will have the opportunity to persuade the court that she can have some visitation under monitored conditions," he told AP.

In April, a child custody evaluator will recommend to the court who should have the kids.

But no custody arrangement is permanent, legal experts say, since either party can always request a court to change them.

It would appear from this story that BS's attorneys feel the only way to get through to her is to leak this story to the media. Not too surprising since they've already made it clear they want to withdraw since she won't listen to them.

As a mother, there is a part of me that really hopes that she loves and cares enough about the kids to show up. But, there's another part of me -- the realist -- that believes that she won't because she doesn't have to-- or she'll show up late. (And, if criticized she'll blame the media circus for not attending.) Then, there's another part of me (I have a lot of parts! ) that thinks that she's her own worst enemy, so if she does shows up, but she continues to act like she doesn't have any problems, it's not going to help her case any.

Well, since the hearing's scheduled for today, we won't have to wait too long to see what she decides to do...

And if she does show up, will she be using her Louisiana accent or her newest affectation, the fake -- and poorly done -- British accent?

I was listening to ET a few days ago and she was talking to the paps in a silly version of a British accent, and it was hilarious because she appeared to think it was all very normal and a good go at the accent. It wasn't. But I guess she's using it more and more now, and this was the first I'd heard she was using it the night she was 5150'd.

Showing off one of her British personalities yesterday, Britney Spears went off on the paparazzi -- screaming "I'm f**king over it!" over and over at the top of her lungs.

TMZ caught Spears pulling a Madonna with paparazzo boyfriend Adnan Ghalib at Macy's yesterday afternoon. And it seems Brit is becoming fond of the fake accent. Law enforcement sources tell TMZ that Britney spoke almost entirely in a British accent the night she was committed.

Spears went home from the mall -- to get some rest for her custody hearing? Will she show up?
