Re: Tom Cruise & Katie Holmes

A follow up on Broadway's post about "the video":

Be prepared to be VERY scared...

Exclusives: Defamer's Top Five Creeptastic Moments From The Tom Cruise Scientology Video (You Know The One)

This is just selections from the video, rather than the whole thing.

If you INSIST on the whole...

Exclusives: The Tom Cruise Indoctrination Video Scientologists Don't Want You To See

Neither of these will last long, because the Scientologists are sure to get a court order forcing them down (they bullied YouTube into taking down THAT copy pretty quickly).

*starts laughing maniacially for no reason*
Oh wait, I'm laughing because I'm watching Tom Cruise being a complete nutjob. He's laughing because he's talking about, um, what is he talking about. He's just rambling and laughing.

How bizarre.

When you take Tom in that state, and Katie in the state she's in these days for most interviews, can you imagine what a meal around their kitchen table must be like? If Suri can speak a normal complete sentence by age 5, it'll be a miracle.

Re: Tom Cruise & Katie Holmes

she's a strong woman and a real artist, that Suri who will be 2 next summer. Hopefully she will have some human interactions in her young life so she can grow up able to have a conversation.

I remember an interview with Giovanni Ribisi, who told Jay Leno (or maybe it was Conan) that he was actually raised Scientologist, that his parents were in that group since he was a kid. I had no idea the group had been around that long (Ribisi was born in 1974, so younger than me, but not a kid). I just looked him up, and his sisters are both Scientologists, and one of his sisters who is married to the singer Beck, also a Scientologist. He seems very normal compared to Cruise though, and wasn't "recruited" if he was born into it. What a weird group.

Re: Tom Cruise & Katie Holmes

What surprises me is Tom's friendship with Will Smith. I've always loved Will and he comes across as someone who is a real straight shooter and "can smell it a mile away". Either the weirdness that is Cruise has escaped him or it's a total PR move and he and Jada laugh at them when they get home from one of their "friendship outings". I sure hope it's the latter.

Will is a standup guy who isn't going to base his friendships on that person's religion. Tom's weirdness hasn't escaped him, he's just the type of guy who doesn't get in other's business, according to friends who've talked about Will. Others have said Will and Tom's friendship isn't a social one, it's based on business. Even Will himself has said that he really doesn't see that much of Tom and Katie. He's been interviewed several times and he once said "My grandmother would get up out of her casket [if I became a Scientologist]."

Will Smith: Scientology Wasn't for Me
Monday December 3, 2007

Will Smith may have studied Scientology with pal Tom Cruise, but he says his faith rests in his own spirituality.

"I don't necessarily believe in organized religion," Smith, 39, said when asked about Scientology Friday at a junket for his upcoming film I Am Legend.

"I love my God, my higher power, but it is mine and mine alone, and I create my connection, and I decide how my connection is going to be," he added.

Describing himself as a "student of world religions," Smith — who was raised a Baptist — said: "I believe that my connection to my higher power is separate from everybody's.

"I don’t believe that the Muslims have all the answers and all the beliefs. I don’t believe the Christians have all the answers and beliefs, or that the Jews have all the answers."

Re: Tom Cruise & Katie Holmes

This thread made me curious about the language of Scientology so I did some browsing on the Internet. Wow. First of all, I am blown away that anyone could buy-in to a religion whose founder wrote that people evolved from clams - does he have evolutionary evidence to back this up .

This led me to a chat room for ex-Scientologists where one poster was trying to describe the concept that to Scientologists there really is no such thing as an EX-Scientologist because they believe that if you would choose to leave Scientology, then you never truly believed in the first place, therefore you were never REALLY a Scientologiist in the first place. All-in-all it sounded disturbingly like Orwellian doublethink straight out of 1984.

I personally am alarmed by a group (religious or otherwise) that requires a member to accept a set of beliefs without any room for question or debate or independent thought on any level.

ETA: I also watched the clip-version of the Tom C video posted by Krom. He seems to have wholeheartedly immersed himself in Scientologese. It did make what he was saying seem almost nonsensical. It was disturbing that he seemed to be referring to people who were surprised that he had met SPs (defined by one site as a Suppressive Person (SP) - An evil person; someone who criticizes Scientology in any way.). These people he is referring to must be have been completely separated from the non-Scientology world since birth if they have never met anyone who would question their beliefs.

Those statements might be true, but after wraps on I Am Legend he was handing out those tests Scientologists do at intake as his wrap gift (never mind the tests are FREE). So while he may not be one yet, he seems to be inching ever closer.

Nah, Will Smith will never add his name to the loonyfarm list of Scientologists. You can take that to the bank if you believe him, and I do.

Re: Tom Cruise & Katie Holmes

I have heard that Jada is a Scientologists and she home schools her kids in it.
As for his beliefs, even tom has said that you can be any religion/Scientologist.
