July 6, 2006 -- BABY Suri Cruise isn't just playing hide-and-seek with the public. Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes have yet to show off their spawn to fellow Scientologists John Travolta, Kelly Preston and Lisa Marie Presley. Even good pals Will and Jada Pinkett Smith supposedly have not met the newborn despite repeated calls to Cruise, reports Us Weekly. "Every time, it's a different excuse: He's busy or Kate's not feeling well," said a source. "[The Smiths] think it's so weird."

I imagine Tom is secretly conspiring to "create" some kind of event or episode to gain international attention to his newly created Suri. Since no-one's pogied up to the bar for the photos as yet. If no-one else ever sees her in person, like for years, then the photo op will be "magical".

I thought I saw TC on Ellen DeGeneres' show with pictures of Suri. He accentuated one baby's lips because "she has Kate's lips" and then kissed the picture. I had to turn the channel because I felt as if I was going to get sick.

TMZ has obtained a copy of the official birth certificate of the elusive Suri Cruise, daughter of Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes.

The document, filed with the Los Angeles County Register-Recorder/County Clerk, was filed May 8, 2006. (Click on document to download) There are several interesting items of note:

First, St. John's Hospital has a policy of filing birth certificates within 10 days of birth. In this case, Suri was born on April 18 but the certificate was not filed until May 8, 20 days later. An official from the hospital told TMZ that the delay occurred because they needed a signature from the parents or a representative of the parents certifying birth, and that person did not come in until May 4. The person who signed is labeled "friend." The signature is not legible.

Also, the "Attendant or Certifier" who signed the certificate -- Anne Heffernan, RNC -- was not in the delivery room and did not see the baby. But a hospital rep tells TMZ that Heffernan is authorized to sign when the doctor is not available. A hospital rep said "normally the doctor signs" but it isn't a requirement.

Finally, the hospital rep said that the circumstances that triggered the eventual signing of the birth certificate were that Suri needed a passport and a birth certificate is a prerequisite to obtaining one.

Since then what have we had?
1.) Numerous photo ops ad nauseum of Tom and Katie all over the place
2.) Getting engaged in Paris while promoting a movie
3.) The whole postpartum depression episode with Matt Lauer
4.) Then we have the pregnancy
5.) The whole scientology thing
6.) Reports of conflicts with Katie's parents over her Catholic upbringing vs. his scientology stuff.
7.) Reports of a prenup where Katie gets money even if there is no wedding.
8.) Tom deciding to change her name from Katie to Kate
9.) Reports from friends of Katie's in NYC who have not seen or heard from here since she linked up with him
10.) The birth on April 18th!!!! On the very same day, on the very same floor of the very same hospital as Brooke Shields
11.) Tom jetting off days later to be at premieres all over the world promoting his new movie.
12.) The only time Katie has been seen since before the birth was at the LA premiere of his movie where she actually spoke and told the crowd that the 16 day-old baby was "with friends" while they are at the premiere.
14.) Not one photo of this child anywhere. Come on, where are all the paparrazzi???? Oh, that's right......he couldn't get the kind of money Brangelina got for Shiloh's first pics.
15.) Now this birth certificate. Which poses more questions than it answers.

Um, yeah....okay....this whole thing has gone from weird to totally bizarre.
Is there even a baby??? At this point, who knows for sure?

It was somewhat misleading. Ellen had a board of 20+ baby faces and she asked Cruise which one Suri looked most like.

I learned a new word today: engram. Can you say and spell "engram" boys and girls? Engram. E-N-G-R-A-M. Engram. (ETA: If engram is a real medical term used by the mainstream medical community please let me know, and I aplogize for making it seem like a wacko term made up by a wacko organization, but can I still make fun of the way Tom and his like use it?!)

Suri Cruise had a Scientology-inspired silent birth; now some are wondering if her mysterious absence might be part of a Scientology-inspired quiet life.

Speculation has been rampant about why the public, and even some of Cruise’s close friends, reportedly haven’t seen the action star’s offspring. Rick Ross of Cultnews.com tells The Scoop that devout Scientologist Cruise and his convert sweetie Katie Holmes may be following the teachings of L. Ron Hubbard — who advised against exposing young children to noise.

“A negative experience coupled with noise can create what Scientologists call an engram — which leads to recurring negative reactions,” Ross explains. “That might include paparazzi, newspeople, or a clamorous crowd. The only way to remove engrams, Scientologists believe, is through the process they call auditing. When a Scientologist talks about ‘reaching clear’ — they’re talking about clearing engrams from your mind. Tom Cruise’s efforts to create a quiet cocoon around his daughter might be a precaution against engrams.”

Cruise, says Ross, seems increasingly influenced by the Scientology view of the universe.

“While on his worldwide promotion of ‘Mission Impossible III,’ I am told, his behavior was, in a word, paranoid,” says Ross. “He was obsessed about the purity of the air and at one point, he was convinced he was being followed and insisted on taking longer routes to places. He was also quite concerned about whether locks worked and had them checked. Scientologists are not only afraid of creating engrams, they’re also afraid of the effects of those around them who they call Suppressive Persons or SPs. It’s possible that Tom Cruise is being overcome by his Scientology training and that’s leading to a paranoid world view that is being reflected in his behavior with baby Suri.”

What is an engram?

The reactive mind does not store memories as we know them. It stores particular types of mental image pictures called engrams. Engrams are a complete recording, down to the last accurate detail, of every perception present in a moment of partial or full “unconsciousness.”

“Unconsciousness” could be caused by the shock of an accident, anesthetic used for an operation, the pain of an injury or the delirium of illness. During these times, the analytical mind shuts down in full or in part and the reactive mind cuts in, in full or in part. An engram exists below the individual’s awareness level yet it can be activated so as to enforce its content, and can cause unevaluated, unknowing and unwanted fears, emotions, pains and psychosomatic illnesses.

For example, a man playing baseball is hit in the head by a pitcher’s ball and knocked out. Someone yells out to the pitcher, “You are no good.” Although the man is unconscious, these words and everything else going on are recorded in an engram; the smell of the dirt where he lay, the feeling of sweat on his brow and the sensation of heat from the afternoon sun. Months or even years after the incident, while watching a baseball game, many of these factors recorded in the engram are present in his current environment. These can restimulate the engram. The man suddenly and inexplicably gets a headache. He might also feel that he was “no good.” This engram in the reactive mind has been restimulated. The reactive mind is attempting to “prevent” the man from “getting himself into danger.” The reactive mind is not very intelligent.
