Something like $15m, I believe, just for being an incubator, or $40m if they marry and it doesn't last 5 years. Her Dad, a shark of a lawyer, was reportedly shocked to the core of his Catholic boots by her having a Scient-baby out of wedlock and Katie had him craft the most bride-favorable pre-nup in the history of the universe, no doubt, since it went into effect even before marriage and has all kind of penalties for Tomrific screw-ups. I've actually recall reading somewhere that Tom's people spread rumors that HE asked for the pre-nup and Katie was all upset, but more rumors go the other way.
That's interesting. Actually, it would probably be better if Katie turned out be a mercenary gold digger, or paid employee. I'm sick and tired of knowing that there are people who are as stupid and spineless as she is.

Interesting viewpoint Krom. It makes sense. Tom's relationship with Penelope didn't work and he needed to "find" a new girl FAST. I think he actually tracked HER (Kate) down. And she wasn't really a Star actress either and now everyone knows her name. So maybe it's worth it for her. I just didn't see her "golden" shovel in hand; you know, to dig with. Well, I'm glad that her Dad has a great pre-nup for her and her child. That may provide some comfort in amongst the never-ending angst of Scientology

Sorry about the Tom acting comments. I admit I'm haven't seen all his films. And I guess I don't intend to.

Remember the rumor bits out there about how he took Scarlett Johansson out to dinner and then tried to Scient-recruit her? And then when she walked away from the little setup he engineered with the "Church Fathers" they apparently never dated again, and she dropped out of his movie (MI:3)? This all happened only a few weeks before he started dating Katie. THEN allegedly Jessica Alba, Kate Bosworth and even Lindsey Lohan were momentary targets, then Katie comes along and BINGO!

Wait... here ya go again:

And Tom's not always a bad actor, but what you tend to notice over time is that he "movie star" acts instead of anything truer. Almost all of his performances start to seem the same when you line them up. Even the slimy guys/villains line up with the heroes, because he's always the fast talker, the charmer, the grinning ghoul. Basically "real Tom" superimposed on his role. That's "movie star" acting. Not bad. Just not particularly great.

That and Magnolia is the best work he's done, IMO. Evil Manipulator Tom in Collateral was hot as hell. I was able to completely forget that it was Tom Cruise up there. I think that when he's a supporting player he's actually able to let go and actually ACT.

Katie/Kate's Imdb page (http://imdb.com/name/nm0005017/) has already prepared her for marriage, it says that Katie Holmes is sometimes credited as Kate Cruise

Risky Business, Top Gun, Taps, A Few Good Men and Rainman. The rest have been nothing to write home about.

I'm ashamed to admit this but, back when I could still tolerate Tom Cruise, "Far and Away" was a movie I kinda liked. It had Nicole Kidman too and it had this whole big epic Irish in frontier America thing going. I'm a sucker for a period piece and that one, wasn't half bad although it got horrible reviews at the time I believe.

I was about 23 when Top Gun came out and single and I thought that movie was THE best thing since sliced bread. The Volleyball scene. I still get shivers! Now he gives me shivers, but in a bad way.

We even used the instrumental version of Take My Breath Away as our first dance song at our wedding 3 years later as I was so in love with that song and the movie at that time.

This fun topic has been SO quiet (it moved to the 2nd page of posts!) I figured it was time for some new but slightly different evidence of Tom's nutitude. Heck, we've done the Scientology so much, lets shift focus for the moment to the fact that he's both a blowhard and... drumroll... maniacal to boot!

Mr. Cruise wrote the "Time 100" piece for J.J. Abrams inclusion in that prestigious list. He sounds like he's climbing up on a couch Oprah-appearance-style while writing this. Grab a mental picture of him jumping up and down like a 5 year old, hear his voice in your head and read...

A story this size isn't enough for this man. It's hard to convey with brevity the extraordinary experience of knowing and working with J.J. Abrams. First of all, is there anything in a name—J.J.? Look at the Jays we have now—Jay Leno, J. Lo, Jay-Z—but he's got two Js. He was born to impinge and invade pop culture. Any person who has been exposed to his TV creations Alias or Lost has felt the rapture of his storytelling. He is a story dealer. He delivers what could be called the Lay's of yarns: you can't watch just one. I watched all of Alias' first season in two days, pushing all aside to the near destruction of my personal and business life. I had to tear myself away. They harken back to the classic cliffhangers of early cinema serials, with the bravado of my favorite pulp-fiction novels—the adventure, the characters, all of it. I just couldn't get enough. And in spite of the trepidations of many and sundry movie executives, I knew it was a no-brainer to hire him to direct the third Mission: Impossible. I couldn't wait to work with the Double J. From the very beginning, there was an insouciance that promised anything was possible. He's a creative juggernaut and someone who recognizes the joy of creating. We had great fun laying waste to the specious barriers and the each-person-does-his-own-job structure of filmmaking. J.J., who is just 39, even did three Industrial Light & Magic special-effects shots in the movie personally. He is an actor, writer, director, closet cartoonist, a composer, puppeteer, puzzlemaker, humorist, modelmaker, loving husband to his beautiful wife (can you believe this coincidence?) Katie and father of three glorious children. Gotta give it up for that J2.

Cruise is the star of Mission: Impossible III, which opens May 5
We can also probably add "bad writer" to the list right besides blowhard and maniac.

And soulless. Completely soulless. An empty vessel, looming large. A shell with a big mouth and empty eyes.
