| Celebrity Apprentice 3/6 Recap: Omarosa Knows Art… Not Really Last week we said goodbye to Tito, but unfortunately not to Omarosa. Piers is absolutely joyful that Empresario had to go to the final Boardroom, and is positive that Omarosa will be the one fired. So, when Omarosa, Stephen and Trace return to the suite, Piers is extremely disappointed and surprised. Lennox too, and he asks Omarosa “Oh, you’re back in here?” Yes, Lennox. Great observational skills. The teams meet in Trump’s completely gaudy apartment, and are greeted by Trump, his wife Melania, Ivanka, Donald Jr, and Trump’s 18- month old son Barron who is just too cute for words. I don’t think Ivanka agrees though, because she spends most of the segment with her eyes shooting daggers at that kid. Barron solidifies his status as cutest Trump ever when he declares to everyone that he wants to work in business, just like his daddy. Awwww. Anyway, I think there is supposed to be a task announced here? Trump says that he loves art, so the teams will be working on an art project with the Moti Hasson Gallery. Each team will choose an artist and price point for the pieces, and do whatever it takes to sell the stuff. The team that makes the most money wins, and Piers and Omarosa step up as Project Managers for their teams. Empresario is first to meet with the gallery owner, and Omarosa asks him if there are any secrets to displaying/ selling the art. The owner says that they are trying to place artwork into great collections, and suggests that they follow their hearts to determine how to choose and display the art. That may be a problem for Omarosa, as I don’t think she has a heart. Or much of a brain. Or a decent sense of humor. Or fashion sense. Trace’s heart does not like any of the artists- he thinks most of the work looks like a 3-year-old threw up on a canvas. I hope this doesn’t hinder him in selling the stuff. Hydra also meets with the owner, and ask a lot of questions since none of them know anything about art. They learn that one of the artists, Shirley Shor, has multiple editions, available of her pieces, so each work of art can be sold multiple times. Hydra selects Shirley Shor, and end up with over 20 pieces of art to sell. Piers is pleased with their selection, and thinks that Omarosa is not smart enough to have figured out the whole multiple editions thing. Empresario picks artist David Kramer because of the lower price point, and Omarosa calls in the biggest ballers she knows. And I’ll bet she knows a lot of ballers. Stephen is also trying to get some money in, so he’s going through his connections to see if he can make some sales. Empresario’s price range is between $2,000 and $5,000, and Stephen thinks the task is more about connections than actual art, which I’m sure makes artist David Kramer and the Moti Hasson Gallery very pleased. Piers is also calling around to line up some buyers. Their average price is $10,000, but Piers doesn’t see this as a problem. He speaks with Gordon Ramsey on the phone, and I don’t really know what was said because there was a lot of bleeping, but I guess Gordon agreed to buy some art or something. Gosh, Piers knows a lot of people. A lot, a lot. I kind of hope that he calls David Beckham next because some Becks eye candy would be very much appreciated right now. Piers continues to make the calls, and tells us that he’s hoping to trounce Omarosa so badly that she never works on television again. Sadly, Piers, I think there’s always room on TV for no-talent drama queens, so we’ll probably be seeing her again. Over in Empresario’s headquarters, Omarosa makes Stephen stop the calls because she wants them all to learn more about their artist and his work. Then she wants Stephen to research while he’s on the phone with potential customers. Stephen says that he can’t read and talk on the phone at the same time, and Omarosa asks “You can’t multi-task?” She asks him to try it, because she is doing fine with the reading and calling, but to be fair, she doesn’t actually have any connections to call, so she’s just reading. I don’t really consider that multi-tasking. When Hydra gets to the gallery, they see that they will be sharing space with Empresario. Hydra has the two rooms in the back, and Empresario has the room in the front. As soon as Empresario arrives, Lennox yells at them to stay out of Hydra’s space. Piers continues to make calls, Stephen spies on Hydra’s operations, Piers threatens to hit him, and Stephen declares that he was only trying to go to the restroom. That pretty much sums up that portion of the show. With only a half hour until the opening, it’s time to set up and get everything in order. Piers directs Lennox to hang out at the front door and shuttle people into Hydra’s gallery. Omarosa does not want to put the price tags up next to the pieces because they don’t have time. Stephen says they have to, but Omarosa replies “Nuh-uh” and the gallery owner has to step in and say that he strongly suggests that they put the tags up. He asks Omarosa how people are going to know the prices, and she says that geniuses of Empresario will walk around and tell them. I’m sure people will appreciate that. When the doors open, Omarosa stands right in the way, herding people into Empresario’s gallery. Lennox notices this after a few minutes, and tries to move people into Hydra’s space. He is moderately successful after a while. Over in Empresario’s room, we see Trace sell some pieces right off the bat. Over in Hydra’s gallery, Piers is waiting anxiously for his connections to show up so that he can move some paintings. Omarosa is trying the hard sell with a guy, and actually says “What can I do to make you say yes?” Desperate much? The guy won’t buy because of the price, but luckily Stephen has some of his people show up. Unfortunately, his people are immediately cornered by Lennox who asks them if they like “visual art,” and then introduces them to Carol who bags a sale in a matter of moments. Stephen is disappointed that Hydra stooped to that level, but Piers doesn’t care and says something about all being fair in love and war, and tasks on Celebrity Apprentice. Gordon Ramsey’s rep finally shows up and buys a piece. Carol is impressed and says that she’s never seen anyone with as many connections as Piers. Hydra is making crazy sales just as Ivanka and Donald Jr. show up, and they both look pleased. At 15 minutes until close, Hydra has sold many of their pieces, Piers is feeling great about the day, and Stephen is chatting up two ladies and giving them restaurant recommendations. Boardroom time! Trump asks his usual “How do you think you did?” question, and Piers says he thinks they not only did well, but they destroyed. Carol and Lennox agree. Omarosa knows that Empresario did not destroy anything, because they only sold 4 pieces. She says they all have to step up and take responsibility, but then points out that Stephen did not make any sales. Ivanka gets to break the news of how each team did, and it’s not pretty at all for Empresario. They only sold 3 pieces, for a total of $7,000, while Hydra sold 14 pieces for a total of $164,000. Wow! Trump exclaims that this is the biggest slaughter in the history of the Apprentice! Omarosa tells the group that their strategy was selecting paintings that people could buy at the lower price point. Ivanka kindly points out that they didn’t sell anything- even at the lower price point, and asks Omarosa how she can possibly defend herself for her performance in this task. Piers says that this slaughter was personal. Although he wanted his team to win, he wanted to beat Omarosa more. He says that when someone is a genuine celebrity, she has the power to pick up the phone and get money from people, so Omarosa is obviously not a genuine celebrity. Omarosa argues with this and says that Trump picked her for Celebrity Apprentice, so she must be a celebrity, and to disagree is insulting to Donald Trump. Piers counters by suggesting that Trump fire 2 people tonight, because of the huge beat down Hydra delivered to Empresario, and announces that he would fire Omarosa and Stephen. What a surprise. Trump sends Hydra up to the suite to watch the firing, but before they go, Trump tells Piers that Hydra earned $51,300 for his charity, The Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund, and Piers begs Trump to make the Final Boardroom especially nasty because he’s been waiting a long time to see Omarosa get hers. After Hydra leaves, Omarosa tells the room that she thinks Stephen does not usually do his part to bring in money, and definitely did not for this task. Stephen admits that he brought people in, but one of his buyers was unfairly scooped up by Carol, and she made the sale. Omarosa tattles that Piers threatened to hit Stephen, and Piers (watching from the suite) comments that he did threaten to hit him, but it was “nothing personal.” I would say that threatening to hit someone is pretty personal, even if it’s Stephen Baldwin! Omarosa goes on to say that Piers called her a whore, which Piers denies from the suite. Then Omarosa tells Trump that she thinks Piers is in the closet. Trump interrupts her and says she doesn’t know Piers very well, and here she is calling him a closeted homosexual. Omarosa wants to tell them the reasons she thinks this, (and interrupts Ivanka and Trump repeatedly until they let her speak). She tells them that the reason she thinks that Piers is gay is because in every task, Piers tried to get men to take off their shirts. Really? Are you kidding me here? You just sat in front of Donald Trump and told him that you think one of the other contestants is a closeted homosexual because he asked guys to take off their shirts for photo shoots? And how does orientation affect one’s performance on Celebrity Apprentice anyway? I just don’t even get why this footage was included, but I’ll step down off my soapbox now to recap the rest of the episode. Trump hears Omarosa out, and tells her that Piers should be able to come back to the Boardroom to defend himself. Piers is only too happy to oblige, and when he reaches the room, he walks right up behind Empresario, swoops down… and kisses Trace on the cheek, calls him a “beautiful cowboy” and then leaves. Everyone laughs and laughs and laughs, and Donald Jr. and Ivanka admit (and they sounded a little disappointed about this) that they thought Piers was going to punch Omarosa in the back of the head. Trump feels that Piers could not have handled the situation better, but Trace disagrees and didn’t like the kiss. Trump is interested to see that Piers shook Trace up with the kiss, and reassures him that everyone knows Piers was joking. I wish this whole homophobia in the Boardroom thing was also a joke, but I don’t think it was. And after all this? Omarosa is fired. Finally. Tune in next week because Omarosa is gone! Oh, and remember that Piers and Stephen hate each other? I think we’re going to be reminded!
