There is only one thing I'm certain of after watching the finale, and that is Trump knew he was picking Arsenio when the show was edited. The show was heavily edited in favour of showing the positives about Arsenio whereas Clay was featured far less.
For example: during the final 'boardroom', Trump had Arsenio's team say nice things about him... but they didn't air anything about Clay and his team. Trump didn't want too many scenes of the contestants saying how great Clay was because he wanted to justify picking Arsenio.

I think all kinds of factors played into Trump's decision:

Arsenio had more wins (arguably )
    Arsenio's passion for his charity
Arsenio's ability to kiss-butt and stroke Trump's ego (Trump really loves that stuff)
Arsenio's feud with Aubrey (Trump has heard public opinion on this one, and he wanted to come out on the 'good' side) In relation to this point...
Clay befriended Lisa and has been talking her up the last few weeks. This has hurt Clay somewhat in public opinion.
Possibly Clay's political stands may have had some influence, but I think it had more to do with the fact that:

Trump loves Arsenio... he has shown it from the beginning, whereas Clay was kind of new to Trump and had to prove himself more.

A lot of this is conjecture as to why Trump picked Arsenio, but I would put money on the fact that Trump had Arsenio in mind when he had this show edited.

I would have probably gone to jail if I had to deal with her. lol
You stated what I've been trying to put my finger on. Arsenio seems like such a warm person, accepting of just about anyone. I think Aubrey could have pushed Mother Theresa's buttons (while referring to her being 150 years old). Theresa said she likes to find the good in people. I think Arsenio is like that too.

Also, honestly, it ddin't look/read real good to me that Clay TOOK Lisa's money, KNOWING FULL WELL THAT SHE WAS ON ARSENIO'S TEAM. If she had offered, I'd've probably been so ticked that I would've called her out on that, right then, since she WAS on Arsenio's team, and refused the money based on that reason, alone.
You may have a point. I thought that was pretty darned low of her. The amount ended up not making much difference, but she could have quietly made a donation to his charity AFTER the show had ended. No, she had to make sure people knew she donated to it. It was very disrespectful of Arsenio to do that, unless she made the same contribution to him at the same time.

The carnival was Aubrey's idea, but it showed imagination. Clay raised three times as much money. The jokes on Arsenio's team were crude. And, the finale was too long. Also, I've read that some of the drama in the final project is fake. When Magic Johnson was facing to the side, I thought it was manufactured. A director from New York could have told him not to face the camera when he talked to create drama for the finale. Why would anyone not face a camera when they are talking to a camera?
You may have been exaggerating, but I'm a technical kind of person. Arsenio rasied $167,100, and Clay raised $301,500. That's a little less than twice as much. Not short-changing Clay. He did an incredible job. But he didn't outdistance Arsenio financially by 3 times.
I agree about the drama with the filming of Magic being manufactured, but not by Arsenio. That's the show's producers, or editors, or whoever is in charge of that. The spot was filmed by 2 or more cameras. They just sent all the footage by all the cameras. Then whoever was editing the promo could decide which parts to use from each camera shot.

I like Arsenio and tolerate Clay well enough but Clay won this. This was clearly a socially engineered win including the choice of charity. There was no way to justify this otherwise.

    The reasons Arsenio won:

    1. He had never lost as Project Manager

    2. He gave a better, more emotional closing speech

    3. He showed his versatility as an entertainer by singing

    4. He brought a real celebrity (Whoopi) to the task party

    5. The money raised plus the donation would almost equal the money Clay raised (weird coincidence?)

The indicator he won from the start of the show:

He sat in the same chair as previous winners

Congratulations, Arsenio, may you be the representative you said you would be. Sorry, Clay - it probably was close...but, no cigar.

You wanted him to say thank you for your offer. That is very nice; but I do not want to affect Arsenio in the competition. That would have been nice. But his charity could have used the money. And it did provide a feel good moment for Lisa. I was irritated with Lisa, but felt better knowing that she was doing that.
    You can do it!

Bet we see Aubrey in the future. I do NOT Like seeing Aubrey step on people. I like seeing her being kind to others and seeing her talent shine. If she goes the bitch route, people will have no need for her.

What talent? I thought her singing was awful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I also think part of the reason Donald picked Arsenio is because, as many have said, he has a better chance of using CA as a springboard to kickstart his career than Clay. Bret Michaels went right back to performing at Sea World and state fairs after his win on the show, and even though John Rich was already successful before coming on CA, it doesn't seem like he experienced a huge career boost from winning. Trump wants situations like Joan Rivers and Piers Morgan, where they get their own major shows fairly quickly after. I'm sure that BET or some other cable network would love to snatch Arsenio up in two seconds.

Aubrey is ridiculous. She was on Wendy Williams the other week and Wendy even said in her after-show that Aubrey was "a bit much" during her interview. I enjoyed her as a character on CA, but it's just gross when she does media rounds now and you realize that it's not a character, but her actual personality.

I also agree that Lisa could have quietly donated to Clay after the show, but disagree that it was an attempt to do damage control. Agree or disagree with her behavior, Lisa has owned up to every single thing that she did on the show. There's no blaming the editors, no "It was nothing personal" remarks. If she's comfortable with her behavior on the show, she wouldn't see a need to do try and revive anything. And she just performed at a roast for Betty White and has a bunch of theater gigs for her comedy coming up. Do I think she's particularly funny? Outside of the roasts, no. But Celebrity Apprentice has never destroyed a person's career, nor it will ever.

    Two points:
First, she was absolutely laugh stupid on the show last night. Her main excuse for her lousy behaviour towards other people has been that it is 'comedy'... and was laughing her butt off while watch herself be so ugly in those clips. She was trying so hard to pass it off as humour (and using menopause as an excuse... which i HATE), and her laughing and being buddy buddy with everyone came off as an act of desperation. I don't think she's worried about her career, but she doesn't want people to hate her as much as they do right now. If she truly wants to change that, a straight-forward apology would have been more appropriate than the crazy stuff she showed last night.

Second, I hate how Lisa owns up to her actions on the show and will never apologize for the rude and awful way she talked about people. Even Aubrey gave a half-baked apology (laden with stupid excuses), but it's better than "hey, I called the pretty girl brain-dead before I even knew her, I'm menopausal, aren't I funny?" CRAP that Lisa dishes.

Anyway, this was a great season! I enjoyed every minute because it's exactly what I expect from this show (B to D list celebrities acting crazy) and I got it in spades. There were also some people I genuinely liked (George Takai, by George, Clay, Arsenio, Dayana, and the "I Can Give it a Try Theresa". And Penn (he was great on the show, despite what people are saying about his behaviour off of it). What fun... I'm looking forward to seeing what kind of nutty cast Trump can put together next season.

But facts are facts: That method of communication doesn't translate well when you're dealing with adults.
So true! My family is filled with teachers, and we tease them when they go into "teacher mode" during a conversation. Considering whom he was dealing with, though, I thought Clay was spot on. Debbie and Aubrey were all over the place, and he just kept repeating his requests very clearly so that there would be no misunderstanding.

Lisa is such a joke! So glad I don't have to see her face or hear her voice again. Good riddance!

I was hoping for a Clay win, and I thought that he should have won based on the final task. I found it interesting that Trump said that the money raised was not a factor. It always is a factor, until this last show. I imagine its because he knew that Clay raised triple the amount that Arsenio did, and took it out as a factor.

Anyway, they are both winners, at least in terms of getting the money for their charities.
