To be fair, the women have only lost twice, and Sharon was there for one of those tasks. It would probably be much more of an issue if the women were losing consistently.

I absolutely love Trace Adkins. Respect for him grew when he disagreed with Trump at the end of the show ... no one ever did that before and you could see the shocked looks on Jr and Sr's faces.

Also, loved his comment about how he'd stand back and let Cyndi at it because she knows exactly what she's doing.

maria was being childish - and I'm glad Cyndi told her to never meet someone you idolize because they'll always disappoint you. I wonder if Maria wanted to impress Cyndi, but I agreed with Trace = sit back and let Cyndi do her thing.

Honestly - Trump fired Goldberg because he wanted to - he didn't want to fire Bret or the Chef, so it left him no choice - and unfortunately Goldberg gave him a reason too when he admitted that he shouldn't have taken that task. But he had no way of knowing 2-3-4 weeks ago that this task was coming up and he should've stepped up sooner. I think Goldberg had already decided before the task was announced that he wanted to be PM.

My ideal F4 - Curtis, Sharon, Cyndi and Holly (I really think Holly could kick some serious butt in the final task). I'd almost throw Maria into that mix but her stock went down with Trump when she put down Cyndi in the boardroom and Holly and Sharon reacted.

The guys lost. I think that was right. They were fools for picking the male artist. The woman had so much potential and cross-over appeal that she would have been easy to makeover. What was Bret thinking with those cheesy chain necklaces? Bret should never have touched the wardrobe! Just look at what he wears! Bret was probably the best choice to lead the men's team for the rest of the task. I think their initial selection is what did them in.
Cyndi would have been the one to go home if the women had lost. Who forgets to retouch the photos? That is really important. If you want to make someone look better than ever, you might want to hide their blemishes. That is pretty standard. Sharon would have been the best leader for this team. Obviously that was not possible. Cyndi did fine. She made a lot of mistakes but she was just so much better than Bret that she could beat him even with those mistakes.

Emily worked with the team, she actually looked willing to cooperate with the people around her.

The edit looked very much in favor of Emily, from the song to the applause at the end of the performance... this one was all about Emily.

As for the women... they were vicious, Holly didn't have anything positive to say about Cyndi... anything. Holly sounded sour and mean-spirited.

Maria... I get her frustration, I get why she's dissapointed, but I also get why this was Cyndi's thing and why Maria got shut out on a couple of occasions. Maria already has her voice and identity, but not yet the outside view on various other areas.

Cyndi knows her stuff, because Cyndi, as well as Sharon have the experience to look beyond their own looks and voices. They are a lot more mature about their areas of expertise... a maturity that Maria doesn't have. Maria would have made Emily into something like a clone of Maria. Cyndi and Sharon looked outside of themselves for inspiration.

Maria can't set herself over that little obstacle that is her very definite visual preferences.

Actually, no. The men's musician was not willing to change his look much, so that was a mark against them, even though they were right - forcing someone into an image that didn't fit them would negatively impact performance. And the men's press package was conceded by everyone, including the women's team, to be the better one. It was a very close call and while the women did a good job, they were lucky enough to have better raw material to work with.

The women chose their singer. It wasn't luck. See that is what I said earlier. The guys' biggest mistake was allowing the women to have who they wanted.

Yes, they did choose their singer, but Lucas' recalcitrance didn't become apparent until well into the task, so that was essentially a crapshoot. And the other men had just as much say in who they chose, including the project manager who would have had veto power. In fact, Bret said, basically, either/or on who they picked - it should have been Goldberg's responsibility to make the final decision, and if they had chosen the woman, lead the negotiating battle.

Bret was on the phone with his insiders who knew both singers. He was talking to them for a very long time. He still couldn't make a decision. He was the only one on the show with those contacts and he still failed to make a decision based on that inside information. I would definitely blame him for their selection. Goldberg and Curtis didn't have the information that Bret had.

    Re: 4/18 Show Discussion *Spoilers*

I may be wrong, but when the male singer was going through the photos rejecting all of them, I didn't hear anyone disagreeing with him and telling him WHY a specific photo was a good look. Maybe I missed it, or maybe it was the edit, but I didn't hear anyone presenting him with a specific image, the way Cyndi did with the Bardot photo, for example. So although I agree that Emily was more open than Lucas, I think it would appear that the men did an ineffective job of selecting a look for Lucas that would work well for him and selling it to him. While Lucas clearly needed more handling, it's quite possible that Emily would have balked if Cyndi had tried to turn her into something that felt really wrong to her.
