    About Amy's "mistake" with renting a Chrystler.

    If you watched the show, you'll notice that the show is sponsered by Chrystler. Amy chose a rental of a Chrystler luxary car as the prize. I think that the producers told her what the prize is. I bet Chrystler has long ago already negotiated a deal with NBC to be on the show.

    I mean seriously, who the hell thinks of Chrystler as their first choice in rental luxary prize? I would think Mercedes or BMW first.

    Certainly they can't have Chrystler give a car as a prize, it would be way too unfair to the other team. So the best they could do was offer a free rental. The rental can't be too long, not many people really stay more than a weekend, so the value of the prize is fixed at 300 dollars.

    My point is I think Amy really had no choice but to use the rental car idea. I don't think her negotiation with the Chrystler dealership was even necessary.

    Maybe the producers set this whole thing up, just so they'd have something to show, which is Donald Trump saying "what a stupid idea this is." That and they probably wanted to kick katrina anyhow.

    Now if we assume Amy's team was more or less forced to use the rental car idea, and the value of their prize is limited to 300 dollars, then they did pretty damn good. I mean they made a good showing against the other team who had a prize value of 1000 dollars. That is I'm assuming customers can't sign up with both teams.

    Amy actually did very well and she put more effort there than her teammates. Especially Nick, who doesn't seem to be all too enthused about putting a lot of effort out there. Nick's strategy of making Amy project manager paid off though because if they lose, Amy will not pick him because of their personal attachment. Anyway, Amy's team was able to lure more people to gamble compared to the other team, Her mistake was not going after the big time players. If Bill was going after them from the reception desk, one can intercept them by going after them at the entrance lobby before they can even have the chance to make it to the reception (ask them if they are VIP). You also need to station a barker at the entrance to get more people to come. The other team's mistake is the Tiger but that was a 'gamble' because more people turned out to be more curious looking at the tiger rather than participating in their raffle.

    Well, at least they chose a Crossfire, which is an awsome car, in my opinion. It's somewhat different and hasn't been out that long.

    It is entirely plausible that Chrysler was brought on board as a sponsor of the show after they saw the footage of the event. Once you get that much exposure, you re-inforce it to ensure its success. I would imagine that they got their money's worth last night.

    I agree and bump what CEO just said. I'd say the sponsorship came after the taping. Let's stay positive here.

    Don't even know about the show (you mean we're supposed to watch the non-DT commercials?), Chrysler has been a sponsor of The Apprentice web site at NBC.com since day one (ok, at least day two)...

    The car wasn't necessarially a bad idea in the sense that it drew people over...think of it, you walk in...there's stuff happening...on the right there's a guy hawkin' something next to this big wheel and a crowd of people obviously waiting to have a spin and all having a good time...on the left you have this shiny new car and some pretty gal talkin' it up...they are obviously giving that puppy away...the line is to long on the right, I'm sliding to the left, I can use a new car...

    but how many times did they have to explain the car wasn't the prize...so the car was a bad idea in the sense that it turned out to be cheezey and left a bad taste in people's mouth...

    the Tiger started to be a good idea (what an absolutely beautiful animal), looked like it was gonna backfire since it was taking people off the gaming floor but then probably helped Troy and Co since the only people still gambling at this point were the VIPs...

    Amy's Mistake

    I think the mistake was not targeting the VIPs. The rental car idea obviously lured more registered gamblers, so it couldn't have been that bad.
    Also as far as who to bring to the boardroom, I think Nick has been there so many times and hasn't been fired vs. Amy's very first time there, I think bringing Katrina was a safe move in her part. I personally think she'd have survived had she brought Nick instead, but she was probably not as confident. Specially if you look at past performances. Hasn't Nick won everytime he has been PM?

    I think the big mistake made by Amy's team was that their big promotional prize was a car rental. Period. As much as I detest Katrina, I have to agree that giving away a car rental to attract big gamblers is not the greatest idea -- no matter what kind of car it is. I wouldn't stand in line for it. It was really a matter of adding insult to injury, in my opinion. Most casinos these days have cars on display that can be won -- as Trump pointed out in the boardroom, "We usually give away cars, not car rentals." I think most people's first impression was that the car was being given away. Once you find out that the prize is only a rental, it has a pretty deflating effect. Especially when compared to the possibility of winning a $1,000 cash prize from the other team.

    I don't believe for one minute that Amy was forced to use the car rental as their promotional prize -- nor do I believe that the value of the prize was "fixed" at $300. They had just as much free rein as Kwame's team in their choice of prizes. I do suspect that, once the team had made the decision to make a car rental their prize, the team was likely "urged" to use a Chrysler, since they have been sponsoring the show from the beginning. But, as far as the type of prize selected, I absolutely feel that Amy and her team had every freedom to choose something else. The make of car wasn't the problem -- the type of prize was, and Amy and her team have only themselves to blame. You snooze . . . you lose (literally!)

    In fact, I don't think they even tried to meet this week's objective very well. The teams were to "design and construct a game of chance or skill" to attract customers to the casino and increase their gambling revenue. All Amy's team did was have people fill out a form and draw a name at the end of the night. The winner didn't even have to be present to win. If your objective is to get people to stay longer and gamble more, wouldn't you want to require the prize-winner to be present for the drawing? What motivation is there for them to stick around?

    IMHO, the team really performed badly this week -- every one of them. Of course, in my eyes, Nick and Katrina always perform badly, but Amy really crumbled on this one. Almost every sales tactic her team utilized was copied from Kwame's team. I think Amy is starting to suffer from a case of "believing her own publicity" too much. In the boardroom, she tried to defend herself to Trump by proclaiming that she had led her team to victory four times. Unless I've missed some episodes somewhere, Amy has not been PM four times. In fact, wasn't this only her second turn at being PM?

    Amy really went down alot in my estimation this week. It didn't look like she handled the loss very well, and I don't think she performed real well under the pressure of the boardroom, either ("You know, Mr. Trump, I really don't remember who came up with the idea of the car rental!") We've all seen what a chronic eye-roller Katrina is, but in this case, she was completely justified. I think I would have been exploding in laughter at this point! Trump kept cutting Amy off everytime she answered a question, and I think he was testing her to see how she handled the pressure. I think she failed. Miserably. (But, I'm thrilled Katrina was finally fired -- it was long overdue!)

    I would just like to say, that most likely (if I'm wrong feel free to point that out - like I have to say that) the website on NBC went up after production was over, and so Chevrolet very well could have found out that they were getting free publicity on one of the episodes, so they would sponsor the show...

    I personally don't see the benefit from it though... the chevy was part of the reason the team LOST... is that really good advertising?

    I think everyone agrees the rental car was not a good idea. But at least we know Chrysler donated that. Where did the $1000 come from that the other team awarded? Was that mentioned last night?
