Re: 3/6 Show Discussion **Spoilers** Rattus - I am British, lived there for 35(ish) years, and many of Piers's traist are fairly common. Brits don't usually suffer fools and idiots lightly and when confronted with such people they tend to let their feeling known. The way he spoke to Ramsey is VERY typical of how Brits talk, its just good friendly banter. Stop and think for one minute: Firstly this is a reality show, which is highly manipulated and edited to get a reaction from the viewing public. Secondly like others have said on the program Piers has more connections that anyone they have every met. IF he was such an ass he wouldn't have connections, and instead of saying "f*** you, d***head" in jest, Ramsey would have probably said simply "f*** you".....click.

Re: 3/6 Show Discussion **Spoilers** If Piers weren't so connected he would not have had such quick access to Gordon Ramsay. On the other hand, if Piers had called Helen Mirren, Sarah Ferguson,or Paul McCartney (that's stretching it, I know) the dialogue would have been completely different. Heck, Lennox is British, and HE doesn't throw F-bombs left and right.

Re: 3/6 Show Discussion **Spoilers** OK, but I don't want to turn this thread about a TV show into a genealogical or geographical debate. It's veered far enough off-topic. The point is that conversations with other people would have gone very differently. Neither Piers nor Gordon Ramsay represent anyone except themselves - not an entire country or continent or nationality.

Re: 3/6 Show Discussion **Spoilers** I certainly didn't mean to insult anyone British or imply that all British are the same or get the thread off topic. I only meant to point out that cultures are different and sometimes people are misunderstood because of this. I think Piers is in that category. It took me a little while to adjust to my British friends "taking the piss" out of me, as they say, when I took myself too seriously, but they didn't mean it seriously at all. It was in a totally joking way. They treat each other that way alot and are great friends. In Britain the F word is liberally sprinkled in broadcast tv, while here it is banned. In Britian the word bloody or shag are considered very "bad, naughty" while here we just think they are kind of funny. You really do have to view others actions through the filter of thier culture and upbringing. OF COURSE that doesn't give anyone the right to be a jerk and there are many very sophisticated British people who would never think of treating anyone rudely, to their face anyway. Not all British people have the same manners obviously, some are very staid and proper, some are loud and boisterous, but it takes all kinds in all countries. Still feeling lighthearted here that Omarosa is gone !! Still rooting for Piers !! ![]()

Re: 3/6 Show Discussion **Spoilers** I will actually miss her a lot. Last weeks program was the best hours TV I have seen in years, and without Piers and O going at one another the show will lose its fire.

I am not sure about Sarah but her ex-hubby Prince Andrew would most definitely use that sort of language amongst his friends. I absolutely know that to be true because my ex-brother-in-law was Andrew's navigator in the Navy. That being said, obviously not all Brits are the same. I can relate to Piers because I have relationships similar to the one he has with Ramsey. Good old fashion banter is great, and does no one any harm. In the context of the show you can't judge Piers really. I am 100% sure he was told to give O a hard time, that just makes for good TV. He very often speaks without engaging his brain, and lacks tact to say the least but i don't think he is truly a bad guy. | |

Re: 3/6 Show Discussion **Spoilers** Most people who tune in to watch a competitive show, whether it be a sporting event or reality show have a particular team or person they are rooting for. In the case of Celebrity Apprentice, the majority of the viewers were rooting AGAINST O. It will be interesting to see how many Piers proponents really support Piers for who he is and not because he was so anti-O. The true Piers fans will stick by him now that O is gone. I, myself was on "Team Piers" but now that she-devil is gone, I wonder if I will feel the same.
